What's the chance we have a trade down partner now?

With DK Metcalf asking for a trade, would you contemplate a pick swap with us dropping to 18? Sure would change the dynamics of this discussion.
I'd have to mock it at 18 to get comfy with it, but yeah, I think so, with some caveats. I'd want him to sign a 5 year deal OR I'd want them to sweeten it, maybe a 3rd or a future 3rd.

The only thing that I think nixes such a trade would be that we'd come out with an extra player whereas the trading team, whether it be the Bengals or Seahawks wouldn't. The only thing they're gaining is a crack at a better player; they're not adding draft capital.
Probably depends in large part who a team likes. If they value one of the OL, or Graham, or Stewart, or possibly even Hunter if we still made the move, then maybe they make the move.

@manxman2601 disregard the 2026 3rd for now. I wanted it to take the trade. I guess I'd take this and gaining Metcalf. I'd still want a long term deal.

I don't want to drop all the way from 4 to 18 for Metcalf but would like a trade down.

QBs will secretly rise as we get close to draft day. Teams are going to talk themselves into a Christian Ponder, Jake Locker.....Hopefully the Jets, Raiders and Saints all talk themselves into a bidding war.

If we have to stick at 4 and Carter and Hunter are gone I want to go tackle but I'm not convinced. Campbell is definitely a risk and may ultimately be a guard like Wynn. Banks certainly helped himself at the combine. He looked really smoth. I need to go back and watch him and see if he's better than I thought.

I don't philosophically believe in taking a running back or tight end this high. Sure you get an occasional Barkley and an even more rare Bowers but they're anomolies.

I like Walker. Team captain. Can play on or off the line. Good against the run, can set the edge, plays with his head up and has great play recognition.

JPJ has a terrific combine. He's more powerful than Walker and is just as sudden. He can also play off the ball. Rumor is, and who knows if this is a smoke screen, that he has serious character issues and is uncoachable. The kid certainly has the talent but if all this is try I don't want a ten cent head.

Ultimately a trade down and we take Banks or Walker while picking up at least a second rounder would be best.

Nice mock although I think I'd go in a different direction on some picks. Haven't given enough though to what I'd do at 18. There are some good pass rushers, DTs and I'd be partly tempted to go all in on OL in FA and draft Omarion Hampton. Give Vrabel his Derrick Henry.

I suspect that they'll most certainly be approached by at least two teams for the chance to trade down. And if the team thinks that the compensation is agreeable and they can get players that they want with any additional picks (especially the 1st Round Pick), I believe they will move down (if a player that they covet isn't there at #4, or the offer is too good to pass up).

There's seems to be growing talk of Hunter being the one who could fall to us.
I could easily see Sanders/Ward/Carter all going in the top 3. That means Hunter drops to us and he's a worthy pick. Best blue chip talent left on the board.

Was just thinking/daydreaming about this scenario on a trip. Ward, Carter, Hunter go off 1. 2. 3. We are on the clock at 4. I love Campbell but not at 4 with the arm length issue. also considering Graham, Banks. Bright idea, Call Jets to see if they want to jump up over the Raiders for sanders. Trade 4 for 7 and Garrett Wilson. Would they do it? Would we do it? What else would you throw in? I think it would be great to come out of the draft with LT1 and WR1. Thoughts?

The jump up from 7 to 4 only has the value of a late second so I doubt they'd give up Wilson for that.

What are some plausible trade scenarios? I think it's only possible if teams are high on Sanders.

I can't see another player a team would move up for.

Wait 2-3 weeks and look again. The FA QBs will be signed. I think Bakes781 is right that someone like Jaxson Dart is likely to push Sanders for that 2nd QB position. I look at Shough who was a UFDA a month ago but has now been ranked #150 after the Combine. He will rise further once people keep looking at his physical traits, etc. All you need is 2 teams (looking at you NYJ & LVR) that get April desperate for that 1 guy (Sanders is really meh).

If someone falls in love with Mason Graham is the one I could see. He's heavily mocked to go the Jags so a team may want to jump them. The 49ers is one I've seen mocked in that way. That's the only real scenario I can see for someone to come up to 4.

My other worry is that Hunter is there and we trade out. The demand, and therefore the return would probably be higher and it'll come down to Vrabel et al valuing extra picks over Hunter.

I considered that 1. The Pats and the Jete would never deal and 2. It might not be enough.
How about 4 and 38 for 7, 42 and Garrett Wilson? Enough?, Too much?

There was a 5 to 8 trade a few years ago and got two 2nds that year and a 2nd the next year.

I'm not very good at judging how to value a player.

If the Patriots traded 4 to the Jets at 7. That is a difference of 300 points on the trade chart
That is a low 2nd round pick
Getting 3-2’s is very rich.

I personally wouldn't dismiss the idea of trading away the 4 pick with Hunter on the board if we get a haul for the pick including a 2026 first round.

Agreed.

Abdul Carter is the only untradeable prospect.

I think that would depend on what happens with WR in free agency. If we strike out, Hunter is WR1.
