It's easy, and only takes a few moments.7+ weeks til the draft, Agents working overtime to spread scenarios where their guy is undervalued, etc., plus Teams spreading disinformation. Who the **** knows how things will look at #4 for teams that get anxious, GM's that have something to prove. Jets desperate to make a splash because Giants are looking Uber aggressive.....With Sanders reportedly slipping, Carter and Hunter likely off the board, and Will Campbell a mid round pick at best, it's hard to imagine why a team would want to trade up to 4.
Can you think of a plausible scenario for a Team trading up?
I think it would take Sanders and Ward dropping. Then you'd have a bidding war. Other than that, @manxman2601 scenario is as good as anyone's. Now if Carter and/or Hunter are there at #4, you might have the same thing. I think it all depends on how it shakes out. To me, the worst case scenario is the top 3 go (not necessarily in order) Ward, Hunter, Carter... then you need someone to be in love with a player they think will be gone when they pick.7+ weeks til the draft, Agents working overtime to spread scenarios where their guy is undervalued, etc., plus Teams spreading disinformation. I'm no Don Draper. But it comes down to Cleveland. Me, I'm happy, so happy with enough players (5) at #4 that if there is no trade down, c'est la vie. But if the Pats take your guy, LOL.I think it would take Sanders and Ward dropping. Then you'd have a bidding war. Other than that, @manxman2601 scenario is as good as anyone's. I think that means you might get some offers to drop into the teens, but it won't be a huge payday. The Dolphins could be in love with Malaki Starks but they'll settle on Emmanwori so they'll not trade to get ahead of the Jete and take whoever is there. So they're out. But there might be interest in an edge defender and a team like Atlanta, Arizona or even Tampa might offer a package to the Pats to drop way back to get up and get the #2 edge defender. Big drop, but you might get a fair package to go way down. I say "fair" but it's probably not going to be an overpayment. Maybe a 2 and a 4 and a future pick. Everyone knows they Pats would deal, so the price is probably lower. Like Manx says, if the Pats don't see the value, the other 28 probably don't either.
I think there's plenty of guys who they could take at #4 who are starters day one. The problem is they aren't LTs or WRs. If they decide that they want Warren, Starks, Emmanwori, Barron, Graham, Membou or even Will Cambell, then so be it. Whoever they take, they can't miss on.I'm no Don Draper. Either way I suspect Wolf gets the axe soon after. Because Vrabel is getting the credit but not the blame.I think there's plenty of guys who they could take at #4 who are starters day one. With DK Metcalf asking for a trade, would you contemplate a pick swap with us dropping to 18? Sure would change the dynamics of this discussion.
It's looking like him or Aiyuk at the moment. It's curious Metcalf has asked for a trade after all the talk about how much we were prepared to pay Higgins.Ugh. I suppose I'd have to consider that, especially since we're all considering who we over draft at 4.
DK makes me nervous though. Not sure how he'll mesh in JMCD's offense.
Don’t forget the agents or teams trying to move down leaking to press as a source that a certain player is going to go higher to a Top 5 team. Or that a certain team is getting trade offers leaving it vague7+ weeks til the draft, Agents working overtime to spread scenarios where their guy is undervalued, etc., plus Teams spreading disinformation. Will Campbell is a top 7 pick. Watch the tape. but yes, there could be a trade down partner and a scenario we get out OT of the future too. With Sanders reportedly slipping, Carter and Hunter likely off the board, and Will Campbell a mid round pick at best, it's hard to imagine why a team would want to trade up to 4.

I wondered about such a scenario with the Bengals for Higgins. But the value of the WR comes out to about a mid 1st. So that's basically moving down 14 spots for a 2nd mid 1. Is that enough in return? Maybe in this draft. With DK Metcalf asking for a trade, would you contemplate a pick swap with us dropping to 18? Sure would change the dynamics of this discussion.
The only thing that I think nixes such a trade would be that we'd come out with an extra player whereas the trading team, whether it be the Bengals or Seahawks wouldn't. The only thing they're gaining is a crack at a better player; they're not adding draft capital.I wondered about such a scenario with the Bengals for Higgins. I have to say, I like the idea of Conerly or maybe Simmons at 18 over Campbell or Membou at 4.
