A lot of the talk during traning camp had revolved around where exactly wide receiver Torry Holt would fit into the Patriots plans for this season, especially with the depth they seem to have at the wide receiver position.
Well, it appears he won't be fitting in at all.
The Patriots reported on Sunday that New England placed Holt on injured reserve with a knee injury, which ends any chance he had of giving quarterback Tom Brady an additional veteran target this season. In his place New England brought back receiver Buddy Farnham, which gives the local favorite another shot to compete for a roster spot.
New England also announced a couple of other moves, adding offensive lineman Brian Simmons, and waiving defensive back Ross Ventrone. Ventrone more or less goes out with a "bang" - as he got completely blown up on the Saints kickoff return for a touchdown last Thursday night.
