He just turned 27 I see a future Aiyuk doing very well here. Aiyuk when he's right is as good a Route Runner as any: I miss those kind of players on Our Offense.

Sorry - some confusion here. I absolutely agree with that. If there is a trade, it surely has to be before 4/1 (unless they extend that deadline which would mean that both the 49ers and Aiyuk want a trade.

I watch a lot of 49ers games and it's clear he's a product of Shanahan and the surrounding players. Most of the time he catches the ball, it's from play design with others creating space for him from pick plays and play action. It's rare to see him leave a DB in the dust deep or beat them for a 50/50 ball. He struggled badly without Samuel and when other players like Trent Williams and Kittle took games off. This was like when Antoinio Brown trolled Juju on Twitter when he left Pittsburgh saying he only got open because attention was all on Brown. Now we have people on the Juaun Jennings train thinking he's the next best thing when he's also a product of Shanahan. He's Bourne 2.0.

He is not a transcendent talent like a Rice, Moss, Julio Jones, Calvin Johnson, etc who can put the offense on his back. He will disappoint a lot of people as the primary focus in NE as they don't have other players who would be able to take attention away from him. Finally, McDaniels has not shown to be creative enough as an OC aside from when Tom Brady was his QB. Going from Shanahan to McDaniels would be a massive downgrade for Aiyuk.

Shanahan for offense is like BB with his defensive players - most of them are a product of the system and can be replaced.

He was a First Rounder in 2020 #25 to be Exact who produced. Isn't that the hope of the Team who originally Drafted him?? He got the Big Contract based off his consistent numbers. I think Aiyuk is a Very Good WR.

Interesting. That chart I posted at the outset showed he created more separation in the middle of the field than pretty much any other player in the NFL, so it can't all be on Shanahan.

I don't think anyone here thinks he is anything even close to a transcendent talent - those only happen rarely. The question is how you think he compares with any other WR we have a shot at getting (right now that would be Diggs, Cooper plus someone from the draft), and also to what we already have. If he doesn't work out, it's only a 2 year commitment, as we can freely cut him in year three.

He had his best year when they brought McCraffrey over and their running game was elite. That made the passing game almost impossible to stop when he also had Kittle and Samuel taking attention away from him. Aiyuk was awful before he got injured which was probably due to him being out of shape.

Not sure. I believe he used the Pats last year to get $ out of SF and had no interest in coming here. Maybe with Vrabel and some film on Maye he might have a change of heart?

ACL, MCL, and meniscus all torn and reconstructed. His contract calls for ~$52m the next two years. IDK...

a) - Unlike last year, he doesn't actually have a say in the matter - I don't believe he has a no-trade clause in his contract. If he's here on what amounts to a 2 year contract (because Pats could cut him in year three), he would have every incentive to do well. A lackluster effort or trouble here and he'd be looking at playing on a much-reduced salary.

b) Yes, Diggs would indeed be cheaper for next year, assuming the Pats get a discount on Aiyuk for this year because of the injury. I'm guessing that this year they would actually be ballpark comparable in terms of outlay (SF eats some contract), but of course for Aiyuk we give up a 3rd rounder (or whatever). But the big difference is their ages - Aiyuk, provided he buys-in and does well, could be extended and could be here for the rest of Maye's rookie contract. Diggs is an interim move, hoping we can draft a WR1 or get one next year by FA or trade.

I'm of the belief that if there is no Aiyuk trade, we go hard after Diggs (unless Amari Cooper is another option).
