To me it’s a guy who is a 100 reception plus receiver who requires double coverage most of the time. They are also central to the opposing defense game plan for stopping that team. I don’t think a guy who averages less than 70 receptions a season, and isn’t the top receiver on his own team qualifies as a #1.
Would he instantly be our best WR? Yes
Would his money prevent us from doing anything else we need to do? No

Unless you have a better move at WR then I say go for it. Maybe there is trade to be made for another WR who has been a 1 and if so I'm game.

Because accomplished WRs like Adams and Diggs went for less. Why wouldn't Seattle give him up for a 3rd.. Adams went for a 2nd..
Completely different scenarios. Adams was sitting out on a Raiders team that knew they weren’t getting to the playoffs and were fine getting rid of a malcontent with a big contract.

Seattle isn’t a bottom feeder. Now they may want to get rid of him as his contracts gonna be up after a year but that depends if they see him as too expensive or if he’s not their number 1 anymore. That being said, why would we give up a 3rd for a guy who’s gonna be a FA in a year? It will take a fortune to re-sign him so why not just throw that money at Higgins and save your 3rd?

Right but all that matters is what trade compensation did the player go for. Has really nothing to do whether a play sat out ect. Diggs and Adams were both all-pro WRs in their careers. So you're telling me you wouldn't give up a 3rd rounds pick for DK Metcalf? DJ Moore? Chris olave?? I agree with Higgins we will be in on him anyway. However aside from Higgins we need to be trying to acquire as much talent any avenue we can. We need at least 2 game changers at WR.

You have to be realistic though, we don’t even know that Seattle wants to trade him. Not every situation is the same. Not everyone has the same contracts. I’m not giving up a 3rd for a player who has a year left on his contract.

I agree with you not saying your wrong at all. I'm just looking at all ways we can acquire talent. We are so devoid of it so we need to be listening to anything that makes sense. What needs to happen is taking a WR in the draft preferably McMillan, and signing or acquiring a guy. For example say you get Olave he's on his rookie deal.. he can grow with Drake and now the team would have control of his contract. There is no perfect fix. Just have to do whatever is sensible to get talent all over the roster.

Sign Higgins, it’ll be stupid money but you have stupid money to spend

Sign Godwin to something 2-3 years
Sign Thielen for 1-2 years

Draft a WR in the top three rounds.

Now you have something resembling an offense

That might be a touch overkill but we have stupid money so better that then not.

Higgins is not signing with us. Looks like he will sign with Bengals for 22-24 million and probably burrow pulls some strings to get him some joint endorsement deals.

Let's just bank on drafts and getting better coaching and probably 2 stop gap veterans for next 2 years to help out maye and other receivers. Godwin and Hopkins for starters would be great. Get the first pick and pick an extra 1st for next year and Maxx Crosby from raiders.

Overspend on mid range tackles in FA and draft BPA in first 3 rounds. Get the OSu running back with the Judon 3rd round pick . He is a stud.

If we get a good OC and WR coach we might be able to unlock Boutte, Douglas and baker a bit more.

What we really need is something like this to happen. Basically a miracle. My assumption. My enthusiasm for Sunday football will continue to be at a 30 year low for at least a season or two longer. Turn arounds like Detroit and what many here expect, just don’t happen all that often. It sucks, but it’s reality.

Deebo had 128 yards, a touchdown, and 5 carries last week. Go get Deebo.

He’s a possibility. I don’t see him as a #1 either, but a quality 2? Sure. 49ers have to extend Purdy. They got 66 mill in cap space to do so but it will put them up against the cap. Since they felt the need to go all in and pay Aiyuk, it’s gonna leave them in a predicament to pay others.

Personally, Deebo is fine although inconsistent at times. Still better than anything we got, just like Higgins. But the contract is a lot more friendly than what TH will demand. Again, both look like number 1 type receivers at times but if you are looking for that X receiver who can pretty much play in every facet of the offense?

Chase
Lamb
Jefferson
St Brown
Aj Brown

Get lucky and go draft and develop one like Nacua because they don’t come cheap and they don’t grow on trees. They are identified very early on by fans and front offices. Teams will do almost anything to keep them and pay almost anything to get them. Said, player and agent have all the power when it comes to negotiations and what destination and landscape/situation they are going to.

I think Hunter is going to be a great Cb but I think Hunter the Wr has the best shot to be that X do it all receiver we’ve been looking for. He may not be the top rated Wr in the draft but for someone who has split his time at two high profile positions, 96 1258 and 15 TD’s? Whatever he does, he makes it look effortless.

Bases on his comments, I doubt Higgins is leaving Cincy. Said he doesn't need to be paid as 1, is playing with if not the best, but one of the best QBs and Chase helps open things up for him a lot.

He ain't going anywhere imo.

Similar backends. Site has to be updated for Simmons. Think he is ranked 120 but see him going anywhere from 15 to 40 in most mocks. Incredible player and probably worth the risk but is he going to be available for training camp? Also, Cleveland gave up what we needed this year but only a 2nd next year seems off par.

I’m sorry to break everyone’s heart but there is absolutely 0.0% chance Higgins sign with us.
Part of the problem regarding Free Agency that few want to talk about, is that no matter how much money the team is willing to pay, Free Agents are going to look at Mayo and the rest of this joke of a Coaching Staff and go elsewhere, even if the Patriots want to overpay for them (which they'll have to do anyway until the team proves that its a team going in the right direction. Maye is the real deal (as is Gonzo), but right now, with this Coaching Staff, it probably won't be enough to attract quality FA's, let alone young ones (including Defensive FA's).
