$26M immediately comes off the cap, so they currently have $17M. This was why I didn’t think they were dumb enough to do this.

If he doesn’t sign the tag, he can’t play until he does. He’ll probably win if he plays chicken. It will be hilarious if they lose their only good defensive player in the process in Hendrickson.

Chase doesn't care one bit what happens to someone else (other than the notion that he will want to be higher paid).

The Bengals could easily give Chase a new deal/extension and either not impact the 2025 cap number or actually bring it down a couple million. Same holds true for Hendrickson.

Now whether the Bengals actually want to spend that much money is another question, but the cap won't be an impediment.
