One of the beat writers, maybe Kyles, not sure, mentioned a couple teams, I believe Bengals and one other that run a similar offense to AVP but they have the skill players to make it work. If AVP is staying past this year and this is his offense, then they need to get a Tee Higgins or a wr in the draft that might be a #1.Interesting concept. If you scheme guys open then you are kind of holding your QB’s hand. The basic play calling makes him read the field and make decisions. Doesn’t make for elite production but might be better for his long term development?
That’s definitely an optimistic POV though. It could also just be that AVP sucks.
Mahomes is a good QB AND Reid schemes guys open more than anybody, that's the ideal scenario.
Brady and McDaniel's similar.
It's almost like AVP has trouble adjusting his scheme to the talent, he just has his scheme, regardless of talent.
For example, please give the LT help against Bosa, give the backup tackles help against Will Anderson.
Some wr's have trouble separating in man please run some stack plays and some more motion.
I think with the right skill players his offense can work with Maye, with the current cast it puts a ton more on Maye to make plays. The lack of taking the talent you have and maximizing it does not seem to be an AVP strength.
With all that said, I think he'd be good with the proper talent to work in his scheme, and its year 1of a rebuild so he does not have that yet.
