NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION NFL Playoffs: Saturday Wild Card Game Day Chat

Super Wild Card Weekend. Well both of Saturday's games were crap. (seem to recall this was the same thing that happened last year)
Let's hope todays games are at least competitive.

All expanding the playoffs has done is allow more sub-par teams into the first round, resulting in more one sided blow out losses,
The Pats got their doors blown off in Buffalo but at least they deserved to be there that year and would have been there as the 6 seed in the old format.

No, he's the example of why you must pick a QB if he's the right QB. If Carolina had picked Stroud at #1 the Texans would probably have been better off trading down instead of picking Bryce Young (going by the early indications which see Bryce Young way overmatched in the NFL).
Imagine having a choice between Maye and Daniels and we say “eh no” and trade down. If either of those guys pan out that will have been an absolutely disastrous mistake. Unless there is something we discover that really makes us turn away from those guys you gotta take one.

A team with Bailey Zappe as the starting QB doesn’t have much luxury to pass on a blue chip prospect.

Would anyone really be measurably happier if the patriots had gotten in a position to be the 1 seed then:
Lost the game to determine the 1 seed by 37 points
Lost the game at home to be the div champ/2 seed
Were blown out in the wild card round

All while their supposed great, cuttting edge, ahead of the times, offense score 13.3 ppg?

It's not all about the analytics, but analytics should be one of the tools.
I keep hearing this. Can you describe specifically what you call “analytics” and how they are used?

Imagine if you don’t think they will pan out, and you draft them any way and they don’t?

Nico Collins is a budding star. This team gives me so much hope of what we can become under Mayo!
What does Collin’s have to do with mayo?

no football 1:00 on a Sunday..when was the last time this happened?

Go back to the old playoff format.

And we're at one point the #1 in the AFC prior to the bye week that season...

For all the hype and hoopla with the Dolphins this season, beating one team over .500 says a lot how the team is built.

I'm not sure Tua is really better than Jones if their positions had been flipped the last two years. The stats of their first two years in the league are very similar (Tua 66.2% completion, 27 TDs, 15 INTs, 194 yards/game, 88.8 rating, 5.5 completed air yards/completion; Jones 66.5%, 36 TDs, 24 INTs, 219 yards/game, 89.0 rating, 5.6 completed air yards/completion) and the quality of their play in college at Alabama was also not that different (and potentially even with edge to Jones if you consider that Tua had the luxury of throwing to 4 first round receivers at the same time with DeVonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs and Jaylen Waddle).

The difference is in my eyes mainly the quality of the receiving corps. It's easier to get the ball out fast (and throw deep) if you have Hill and Waddle lining up next to you than DeVante Parker or Demario Douglas.
If Mac had ended up with the Doofins and had Hill….first and foremost and then Waddle, Achane and Mostert….and a much better OL then he had in New England… Mac would’ve performed equally or better than Tua…..BB definitely f’ed up Mac imho….. In a lot of ways that all goes down to which team a quarterback goes to and how they are supported and coached… consider Tua or Mac overly elite… Hill definitely made tua look like Brady….. until the high-pressure playoff games, of course
