I’ll keep living week to week « until I find a million dollar ticket »…

LOL, I'm with you there - although I think the rest of the world probably would be as well
Needs to be a 6th rounder or an undrafted former grocery bagger not a 7th rounder for it to be more realistic.

It's a good question. In the last 10 super bowl winners, it's 6-4 in favor of elites. 4 Brady's, a Mahomes, and the good Russell for the elites, and for game managers we have Flacco, Foles, noodle-armed Manning, and Stafford.

Josh Allen fails again . Dak Prescott and Kirk Cousins couldn't elevate . Lamar Jackson gets eliminated aby divisional round.
Kyler Murray is one season wonder.
Rogers getting Old and could not carry team in absence of davante
Russel Wilson the perfect system QB who killed the Broncos.
Deshaun Watson donno what future has in store for him.

For now it looks like competition is between mahomes, burrow , Allen vs ( all in teams Rams, 49ers)

Brady, Herbert and to a smaller extent Hurts can be added to the above elite list of QBs. Everyone else is second rung.

With this being said do you invest in QB or star players all around and hope you get a mercenary QB for couple of years who can help you take it to next level. Brady and Stafford have done it. Who is next ?

For what, like a season? Not that it matters, there's absolutely no way that's happening anyway.

I'm actually guessing he's not overly thrilled with Purdy playing so well or obviously beating him since if he goes on to have a great finish, it might have ruined Brady's second shot of potentially playing for his hometown team.

If I were him, I'd call it a career after this season. He owns all the records and has zero to prove. Not to mention, his kids obviously won't be kids forever.
I'm reticent to open this door but here it goes:

I don't think guy knows how to be anything but a football player. He's had many opportunities to go be a dad, and chooses football every time. I think he's hoping to get that endorphin rush one last time and it's chasing a high that's not there for him, because his circumstances have changed. He's never going to feel like this moment, but he's chasing that one last time.

After seeing performances of Mike White, Brock purdy , Davis mills last year and then the contracts for Wilson, Kyler Murray and Watson , it really throws open the question as to who is a franchise QB?

Leave apart hall of famers Brady and Rodgers the only ones close to that duo are Josh Allen, Mahomes, Herbert, Burrow and to a smaller extent Hurts this season.

Lamar can make team competitive but cannot win on his own without his legs which get tired come post season.

My view is you rinse, repeat Rookie QB till you find the franchise QB who need to be elite and can transform ordinary receivers to playmakers . Allow a year or two of development for rookie QB who are selected in rounds 3-4 .

Build the team around the QB with solid offensive line and 1 stud WR.

We might not consistently be sniffing a superbowl but could potentially win 1 over a decade .

The teams who have depth in talent will win the ring looking at the amount of injuries that are happening across board .

We were insanely lucky with Brady. Not gonna happen again . Let's try to increase our odds in the NFL lottery and not squander years like broncos or cardinals.

Sign long term contracts only for top 10 QB . Anyone below that make it incentive laden . 10 million a year . Postseason - 2 million , pro bowl - 3 million, afc championship - 3 million , super bowl - 40 million over 3 years.

A similar thread was created in jets forum as well

Right now the best comps I see for Mac are Cousins and Prescott and there performances don't match their salaries.

I'm on board, lets bring him in for a year. Otherwise, Jimmy G and trade for Mac
Trey Lance or Jordan Love and see if they become someone after a year behind the others.

I don't follow. We have Mac.

It’s funny how people say you can’t win without elite QBs then list a bunch of QBs they call elite but have won nothing or barely nothing.

Allen
Burrow
Mahomes
Tua
Jackson
Ryan (to include older ones)
Rodgers
Carr
Herbert
Prescott
Murray and all the other top draft pick qbotf guys

Have combine to win 2 SBs

I still wonder if Bill would take Mahomes today with that contract. I honestly don't think he would.
Huh? If you are not willing to pay top money for a top QB you will have to settle for rookie contracts or average contracts for average QBs.

Brady's below market contracts were an exception. No other QB has shown the willingness to take those contracts.

Mahomes , Josh Allen and Burrow are the only ones deserving high guaranteed contracts .

After that Herbert, hurts and Brady around 35 million a year .

Rest all should be incentive laden.

Lamar is doing more with less but he gets eliminated in post season. So all regular season performance is moot.

I love it when I listen to the radio when an idiot comes on and says the Pats should trade Mac Jones and draft a franchise QB as if they grow on trees.

You can scrape Tua, Ryan, Carr, Prescott and Murray right off that list. None of them are top tier quarterbacks. Drop Rodgers (who has a ring) as well, he's not going to be top tier moving forward during any short time he has left in the league.

That leaves you with...

Allen (age 26)
Burrow (age 26)
Mahomes (age 27)
Jackson (age 26)
Herbert (age 24)

That list right there is going to dominate the AFC playoff picture for the next decade. Collectively multiple Super Bowls will be won. That's happening.

Right, how many people are signing up for Mac Jones on a second contract (based on performance to date, obviously time might change things)? Someone brought up Daniel Jones yesterday and I want no part of that.

They are easy to identify if you watch the draft shows on the TV. When they show their picture, it says "potential franchise QB" right on the screen.
