A lot of speculation in this thread. We have no idea how much time Brady spent talking to anyone in the Dolphins organization in 2019. They were pursuing him but he may have been saying he'll decide later. We don't know. At the end of the day he chose Tampa Bay so whatever those talks were between him and the Dolphins obviously didn't go to far.
No, but I guarantee you that Brady violated the terms of his contract during his last season for meeting with these guys.Brady isn't a team. There's no rule against a player tampering.
Certainly disposes of the question of obligatory fan loyalty to Tommy. He couldn't give a crap about Patriots fans.My biggest question is, why did Brady want to go to the DOlphins of all teams? Was it because of Ross specifically, or did he just want to stick it to Belichick...my guess it's the latter.
Brian FloresSo why didn't Tom and Peyton end up with the Dolphins?

Don't You have a picture of BB to satisfy yourself with?
He was gone. There really is no real explanation.Brian Flores
Exactly. It was no secret he was going to be a free agent and as far as he was concerned the Pats passed on the opportunity he gave them to lock him longterm. There was no scenario where he was staying here after that. And any small glimmer of hope was gone when he actually saw how awful the offense was.
Him talking to the Dolphins did not effect us because we weren’t keeping him. The Bucs on the other hand have him locked up and he was maneuvering to leave them. That’s a different thing and they have much more of a reason to be upset after they gave him the contract he wanted, gave him control, and rolled out the red carpet.
After 2019 the Bucs was the better optionHe was gone. There really is no real explanation.
12-4 season isn't tanking and was a defensive stop away from getting a byeThough there is no proof at this time, since he tanked the 2019 season what is to say he didn't start shopping for a new team prior to August 2019?
The punishment for Ross is appropriate. Could it be more? Sure. They overlooked the Flo tanking ask but whatever.
I've never viewed Tom negatively for wanting to leave here. He had enough just like Bill had enough but it doesn't make what Tom did right or appropriate.
However I do have a problem with him meeting Ross before the start of the 2019 season - his last one here. Maybe Tom knew 2019 was his last here and I get he wanted to find a new landing spot sooner than later. OK fine. The real issue I have is it potentially compromised any opportunity for Tom to stay. What if BB/Tom/Bob didn't reach some kind of understanding back in February/March of 2020 because of what Ross told him? In the end I don't think the Ross meeting pulled Tom further away but it sure didn't help the Patriots who at the time had his rights, was under contract and had some negotiations (if you call take it our leave it a negotiation) with Tom.
In the regular world, people interview for jobs all the time while employed. My guess is that was Tom's point of view. I get it. Could this be perceived is disloyal to Bob? Yep but Bob wasn't exactly providing motivation for Tom to stay.
I think it would be fair if the Fins were forced to give up a pick or two to the NEP. You don't ***** with another team's franchise QB under contract.
I will not call Tom a traitor but what he did does have a sleazy feel to it.

The Flores accusation came out, and it would have been a horrible look to proceed at that point. So why didn't Tom and Peyton end up with the Dolphins?
That is a very interesting point. We all wondered why Belichick held the line on the contract and not franchising him. It also runs directly to the the timing of the decision to give Jimmy Garappolo away for nothing. Once that happened, Brady figured he could do whatever he wanted outside the organization.Maybe Bill and Bob knew Tom talked to Ross and took a hard line with him because of it.
