OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

There will be a big new deal for Brady and I am hoping it locks him in for another 2 seasons.
It sure seems like at least another year. The 2nd season will probably have an out. And there will probably be void years to lower the cap.

The NFC is suddenly so weak and the Bucs have arguably improved over last year in some areas, and assuming they continue to do good GM work, can keep it going another two.

Fournette might take a while.

I know what I want it’s going to take time but I also believe for these last 2 years I’ve played like a top 5 back, so I’m just trusting God and enjoying this time grinding and with my family………..

There's no hurry to sign Fournette and Gronk. Bucs have very little cap left. They need to restructure some contracts first. They can wait.

I just won’t rule out Rodgers just checking out. Got paid a guaranteed dump truck of cash and lost his absolute most favorite teammate because, reportedly, he wanted to take LESS to play with Carr instead? Yeah Rodgers might just stop caring as much.
His record $150.7M guaranteed money lasted only a week. Notice the $0.7M, which exceeded the previous $150M by Mahomes. The new $230M blew Rodgers out of the water.

I don't know, to a certainty, the Bucs current cap position. I don't have the list of official contracts to match up against supposed current caps. Having said that:

Just as an FYI, the NFLPA currently has the Bucs with $10,459,875 in cap space. Also, OTC is behind on its Bucs cap page (Godwin's still just there under the franchise tag, for example).

This deal is worse for the league than the Koncak deal was for the NBA. There must be a lot of pissed off owners over it.

Yea I'm sure the owners aren't thrilled with handing out 100% fully guaranteed money. I'd be curious to see the fine print. The Pats will never do that.

I don't think the owners liked the Arod deal but at least he's a back to back 'MVP' so that can be used against others trying to duplicate it. What Watson got has changed the NFL. I have to agree that the owners will not be pleased but honestly the superstars deserve their money. I'm not sure he does but he'll have time to show he was worth it.

The Browns were always gonna be the team to do something so stupid it breaks the league. It was their destiny.

Mayfield was playing injured last year. He isn't a bad QB. If healthy, he might still actually be a better QB that Watson. Watson is not a sure thing either.

Bad deal for the Browns.

The playing injured thing is true and it looked from the outside that he was doing it at the urging of the team. His coach was making weird comments about toughness while Baker has one good shoulder.

Bucs have a lot of their younger guys signed for at least two years. It really seems like they are going all in for 2 more seasons. The cap really is of no consequence as long as they continue to get discounts. They'll load up with veterans and stars and take much of the cap hit in years 3 and 4.

Yeah I recall that and thought it was selfish, the coach was just trying to save his own skin while potentially ruining Mayfields career.

I can understand getting fleeced if you don't have a franchise QB like Saints and Panthers but Browns were 11-5 just two years ago with a healthy Mayfield.

Want a sign of the demand for Bucs season tickets with Tom Brady back? Fans on the waitlist were notified the team will require a 2-year commitment from new season-ticket members and require a Florida ID for new seats in the lower bowl. Working to maximize fan base after Brady.

We still don't have details on Stinnie or Perriman, and Logan Ryan won't work out his deal until next week, so there's still some unknowns with Bucs' exact cap space, but I've got it around $14 million.

Details on Russell Gage's three-year, $30 million deal with Bucs, per @spotrac and @jason_otc: It's remarkably straightforward -- $10 million each year. $3.5m base and $6.5 million bonus this year, so his cap number is $5.67m (can be reduced as needed). $10m base in 2023, 2014.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler just confirmed our report here on SportsCenter. Landry and Fournette planned to join Watson in ATL. A.J. Green planned to as well.
