OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I was paying attention which is why I am calling bunk on his wife/kids card that he repeatedly plays every time he talks about leaving the game.
Yea, he's playing everyone. Now it may be he does retire in 2022 (doubt it) but it'll be for reasons he may never share.

He’s using his family as a shield and I guarantee you Giselle is on board. Like, it really shouldn’t need to be explained that Giselle isn’t some trophy wife or some hanger on high school/college sweetheart who is now trying to be a social media influencer like the wives of every young QB in the league right now. Giselle is a freaking cut throat business monster who would be capable of running any number of Fortune 500 companies. In terms of the international scene she married DOWN.
She ain't no Brittany Matthews that's for sure

LOL...what the hell is he supposed to say? When is the last time an athlete in a sport like this cited something other than wanting to spend more time with family? Is he supposed to say he's bored because he has nothing to prove? That he's not sure it's worth playing for Tampa Bay since they might not be great next year? Of course family is always a consideration...so is health, long-term injuries, relationships. All these things are probably factors...it's a complicated decision. I'm sure he doesn't want to pull a 2010 Brett Favre and come back for last season and look like a circus clown, but there are multiple risks/rewards here.

If he retires, there may be no better last game besides winning the championship. You pretty much have to lose on your way out, and that was another epic comeback...a legendary fact that in his last game, he overcame a 27-3 deficit before the defense allowed a last second field goal, ending the career of the greatest ever.

Anyway...

Vegas odds have Brady playing at like 80%, but they also have him playing in 2023 at like 25%. So the sportsbooks strongly believe he plays one more season and retires.

Vegas odds also have Rodgers with like a 40% chance to remain with the Packers. They don't think he's retiring but that there's a more likely than not chance he winds up with a different team. Denver is the most likely, but there are a bunch of teams in the mix with similar odds.

He can say whatever he wants and we can call bunk on it too. That was my point. What is disappointing to me as a huge fan of his, is the timing of letting this out prior to the post-season. It was a distraction his team didn't need and now his possible retirement is going to hang over the rest of the playoffs which is unfair IMO to the remaining 4 teams. If he really didn't want a farewell tour then don't say anything and just announce your retirement 2 weeks after the SB. Again, he likes to play both sides and IMO it is a terrible look for him here.

Rodgers in Denver would be sick.

Guess you weren't paying attention when Brady said:

“What I say vs. what I think are two totally different things,” Brady revealed. “I would say 90% of what I say is probably not what I’m thinking. Which is challenging, you know? And I really admire people that actually can do that, and say what they think, because they invite a lot of other things into their life. And I think there’s part of me that doesn’t like conflict. So in the end I just always try to play it super flat.

That's exactly what's happening now, he's really not saying anything. It's people trying to connect points that don't exist.

I picture TFB & Gisele reading and watching everyone's reactions and takes from his comments and laughing their asses off.

His comments there have been deliberately misconstrued by some to mean that he's saying he lies 90% of the time, which is not what he actually said.

That's why I highlighted "I just always try to play it super flat." Which to me means say as little as possible. Unlike Rodgers who seeks out controversy.

I think Rodgers is 60/40 to retire.

Mahomes will mop up the floor with him. The Chargers too.
Against that Denver D? Doubt it. The only thing that team needs is a top 10 QB to be a contender.

It largely depends on the HC.
Sure, but Fangio had them competing in many games. They just couldn't score. Rodgers could change that with a good running game.

I don't disagree but Rodgers always finds something to complain about. The West won't be a cake walk and he will face scrutiny which he always buckles under and starts finger pointing.

Rodgers in Denver would push the Chiefs to a lower seed (good for at least 1 incremental loss) because you know he's bringing Adams with him. Add Adams to that receiving corp and a decent young defense with Rodgers and Denver is a contending team. They may fall flat in the playoffs but come on let's give Rodgers his due at least in the regular season - he's an all-timer QB still near the top of his game.

Imagine if the Chiefs-Bills was played in Buffalo instead of KC? Maybe swings the outcome. Playoff game results are on razor's edge at the highest level as we should all know. Ironically Rodgers to Denver may help protect Brady and the Pats' respective legacies by making it just that bit harder for the Chiefs.

As for Brady, I wouldn't be fully surprised if he retires but it feels like things are setting up for one last rodeo in Tampa. NFC should be pretty clear if Rodgers leaves GB. No guarantees on what happens obviously, that's largely determined by health and the bounce of the ball. If Bucs just had Wirfs and Godwin healthy they are likely the favorites to win this year's SB, but they benefitted last year when Chiefs O-Line wasn't healthy. Football gods giveth and they taketh away.

Yea, probably. I just want Mahomes to face stiffer competition. If each AFCW team can steal a win from them, maybe they finally have to go on the road in the playoffs.
