Raiders ready to give Mcdaniels full power? Reputable source?

This could get interesting if true. The defence has it troubles and now , if true , the OC may get tempted by the Raiders.

If he gets the LV job, I wonder if he takes a run at Jimmy?

Would make a ton of sense. He seems like the kind of guy that when left on his own likes his first decision to always be one that is going to make his life a helluva lot harder.

I've said before, I think it'd need to be a golden opportunity for Josh to leave. This may be such an opportunity. The Raiders are not a crap team - they made the postseason and were competitive with the Bengals in the wild card game. The Raiders may give him full control. And, he may be able to get Jimmy if he wants him and thinks he's a better fit than Carr, and then trade Carr who has 1 year left on his deal.

Pretty golden opportunity though I'd be sad to see him go because I think it would hurt Mac's development. At the same time, it's been said that Bill O'Brien would come back as the OC, so it might not be the end of the world. O'Brien did a great job utilizing two tight ends in Gronk/Hernandez and could do so again with Henry/Smith. Not two players of the same caliber, but still. Additionally, BOB is currently the OC at Alabama, so I'm sure that helps in working with Mac also.

It's his last chance I'd imagine. Good luck to him, I don't think he's the offensive savant the media portray him as, and I don't think his departure would hurt us too much...

Big question is that one of the reasons McDaniels turned town the Indy job before was because his wife really liked this area for raising their kids. The kids will be 4 years older now but I don’t think they’re adults yet. Can’t imagine Vegas would be that family raising environment his wife desired…..

RIGHT. Josh is SO likely to want to work for the ONLY owner dumber than Irsay and then move his family to the only town more despicable than Indy. Now THAT makes a ton of sense.
:
Dumb owners are easier to control and manipulate.

Here's the original story, for what it's worth:

Two weeks after the coaching carousel began to spin, none of the eight teams looking for head coaches have requested permission to interview Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. That could soon be changing.
The interest in Patriots executive Dave Ziegler for the G.M. position is strong circumstantial evidence to support the chatter that’s currently making the rounds, and that we’ve picked up from multiple sources who have their ears attached to the broader grapevine.
It’s believed that McDaniels would want full control over the football operation. That could complicate the effort to hire Ziegler, unless there’s a disconnect between Ziegler’s authority on paper and his practical power when the time comes to make decisions.

First of all, McDaniels hasn't even had a single interview - whether it be the Raiders, or anybody else. Second, if they are interested in Ziegler then that means McDaniels is not getting full control. So which is it? Or is it just PFT flinging conflicting rumors at the wall, hoping one may end up sticking, while generating plenty of clicks?

Unless Ziegler will work in concert with Mcdaniels?
With Mcdaniels having the final say?
That is a strong possibility.

Why not? Lake Las Vegas, Henderson, Paradise are all nice communities.

It might be Josh’s agent trying to keep him relevant.

Fantastic candidate who deserves to coach another team. Put up big numbers for many years. BB is highly complimentary of him. Would be big news if LV pried him away.

If I'm Josh my negotiations start with the same contract they gave their last head coach. If I get close I take the job.

This might be the last shot at a head coaching gig for Skippy. Pats play the Raiders next season. That would be fun! Remember when Josh and Kyle Orton beat Tom, Bill and Randy Moss? Good Times!!
