Should Josh McDaniels be locked out of the draft room next week?

IIRC, the Titans didn't have very good drafts with Vrabel as HC either. So I am not very hopeful on our draft draught outside of top 17 picks being turned around.

The only player we've really hit on big outside of the top half of the first round in the past 8 or so drafts is Barmore. And that was a high 2nd round pick, you should hit on them some of the time. Michael Onwenu is a decent hit too I guess, but not special. Just solid.

I would argue the pats have been the worst team at drafting for years, and it's not that close

Vrabel wasn’t the decision maker in Tennessee. But you can blame him if it fits your narrative better.

It’s really obvious that you have a bias against Vrabel. I have no idea why, but it’s as clear as it can get.

I have no bias against him, I'm just being honest about his record. He went to a team that was 9-7 back to back years and kind of middle of the pack. They improved a bit for a while (largely cause Tannehill for a 2 season stretch played the best ball of his life by a mile). Then they kind of fell apart his last 2 years.

Much of it had to do with lack of success drafting well. Particularly the miss on QB hurt, but QBs as we know are hard to hit on so I don't hold that against him much, everyone misses on QBs.

It's the other times he missed that concern me. At this point going by his record and all things considered, I think it fair to call him middle of the pack as a HC in this league. Probably a bit under, but no reason to think it's too much.

The thing that really worries me though is how the Titans didn't show steady improvement YOY on either side of the ball. Part of this was due to subpar drafting, another (I think) was he wasn't exactly sure about the vision he had for his team.

One thing I will give him credit for and hope he is learning from for his first year here, is he seems to have a much clearer vision of what he wants to do here. If he is to be good at his job he should learn from past mistakes. I think that may be happening here.

So I am slightly hopeful he will see better results this time around, but that doesn't change the fact when you look at the entire context of his 5 years with the Titans, there is nothing to suggest he the kind of coach you want to pin particularly high hopes on.
