Some good news on Friday, as one of the key players for the New England Patriots appears to be sticking around for the foreseeable future.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Patriots and safety Jabrill Peppers have agreed on a contract extension. Yates reports that the veteran is finalizing a 3-year deal with the team with a base value of $24 million, which is worth up to $30 million.
Peppers finished the 2023 season fifth on the team in tackles with 78, along with a sack, two quarterback hits, five tackles for a loss, two interceptions, along with a team-high 8 passes defended. He also had a forced fumble and a recovery.
He was also a guy who set the tone early, with Peppers leading the team in first-quarter tackles last season, including one of his interceptions and his sack coming during that span.
Head coach Jerod Mayo talked about the move on Friday, and he’s definitely happy that Peppers will be a part of his defense in the coming years.
“I’ll confirm it,” said Mayo when asked about it during his press conference this morning. “But I am very happy for Peppers and for his family and also for our team and organization.”
“He really embodies everything that we want on the field. He’s very selfless. He’s out there flying around all the time, and it’s good to get that deal done.”

The media told us it was a full team rebuild and multi year. Sarcasm. Hmmm… I guess reality is: this team had a lot of talent on it. They just had a glut of injuries at an already weak position (o-line) and the QB imploded all the way to 4 wins. Reality: Peppers was both really solid as a player, added toughness to the D, is athletically talented, and was a leader on the… Read more »
