Quote the Patriots' Play: STFU negative nancies

You're ignoring the fact that coaching directly impacts player performance. To what degree, neither you nor I will ever know.
Ironically, half the NFL media intelligentsia are crediting Belichick for Mac's success, some literally saying Mac would fail with any other team. Not a good look for the Brady Bunch narrative. For the record, I think Mac would succeed anywhere eventually even though he landed in best place with the GOAT coach. They are both lucky to have each other (BB is lucky Mac fell to him), just like BB and TB were lucky to be together.

The Pats are not a middling, bottom feeding team. That was the 2019 team.

They are smoking playoff contenders.
I hope they are. Let's see how they play at home against the NFLs best team in a couple of weeks. Seems to be coming together finally.

Not at all. Coaching is critical. But I think we saw the extent last year with Newton. Coaching can only go so far. There is a reason Bill spent $165 mil this off-season and drafted Mac with pick 15. It all starts with the player and then the coaching augments that.

When one team beats another team, or goes to the playoffs, or even wins the superbowl, you see that as the result of having better players, or perhaps just the players being better on that day. You still discount the role of coaching in developing those players, maximizing their strengths, hiding their weaknesses, creating a system that best maximizes all the players, getting them to buy into that system, preparing them for their opponent every week, winning the battle between O & D coordinators, and the list goes on.

You take pictures of your dookies?
the really good ones? Video.
Only if you let Samuel L. Jackson read them to him...uncensored.
The path of the righteous fan is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men...

Eh. Haven't clinched anything yet except finishing the season with minimum 6 wins. Yay?

Things are looking up but we'll find out how ready they really are for prime time after the Titans-Bills-Colts-Bills stretch coming up.
We won 7 last year? I agree that's a tough stretch coming up. That said, Bucs, Cowboys, Panthers (sort of), Chargers, Browns, is 2 primo teams and 3 contendahs. Then there have been the Jete laughers, and one time we were just plain beat, against the Saints. The rest of the losses have been close (edit - I originally said the rest have been close, win or lose. Not so much when we won). In the last month, only the chargers gave us a game. So yeah we'll find out a lot about this team by that 2nd Bills game in a month. It might be an 0-4 stretch... but the trend looks right.
I think we are trending in the right direction and playoff bound, but I don't see this unit winning a sb under a rookie qb.

Has it ever happened?

Nope. No rookie QB has ever won a conference championship game either.

I think Big Ben got the closest in 2004.
There've been what, 56 SB wins total? LOL... or, 49 plus Brady, as we say around here and in Tampa. 44 plus Brady and Montana. 40 plus them and Bradshaw. So a total of less than 40 guys, remembering all those 2 ring terrors like Eli et al.

Teams generally don't let rookie QBs start. It was even a surprise when Mac won the job against what used to be Cam Newton.

When DO you start a rookie? Most places, it's not where you think you'll be winning it all that year. It's somewhere expecting him to take his lumps, but they don't have a really realistic shot anyway.

So all I'm trying to say is, the causality regarding the "neverness" of that stat is shaky. It's more that there are fairly few guys getting a realistic shot to do it, and fairly few SB winners.
I love the sentiment going around, but realistically, the only way we win it all is if Mac Jones has trully one of a kind rookie season

He has been very good. Great even. But he hasnt won games by himself, which has good chance of needing to happen in the Playoffs, if not earlier.

I dont think Ive guessed our record this year. I think we are going at 11-6
QED, regarding the bolded part (I guess that's the point). Good-ish point in the second sentence, but I think he compares well with Trent Dilfer on the Ravens, for example. I mean, our D might not be that year's Ravens D, but they're damn good as a supporting cast too. On your third sentence, great time to weigh in with your guess! But in all seriousness, that's aggressive and I like it!

From the Browns board:

Lol. I should note, most of their fans over there are not spewing this kind of ridiculousness, just mostly depressed.
Right? I mean, they shot us with the kryptonite bullet, we sent Superman to Tampa, and we STILL pull this **** on them? From Belichick of all people! Not bad enough yet? This was probably only the 8th worse thing about living in Cleveland last weekend.
I get it, I was at Bama during the late 80's we were not good at all!

Saban has been at Bama since 2007, when my kids were 8 & 6. So basically they know nothing but winning. I on the other hand remember the years of Mike Shula, Coach Fran, Dubose when just getting 6 wins and going to a bowl game was a big deal.

I have also been a Falcons fan since birth, so I know all about losing over, and over, and over again. That's why I am so happy to be a fan of a team that knows how to win and will do what it takes to win. I am a very happy Patriots fan!!
1) Your kids were 8-6? Respect. But 11 kids, damn.
2) how long have you been a Patriots fan? Just curious. If you were in Bama in the 80s, did you jump on the bandwagon when the Pats got good?

I mean, combined with the rest of this post, I dunno. Becoming a fan just b/c they are good... isn't that an "America's team" kind of reaction? I hated Cowboys fans with no connection w Dallas who just discovered how much they loved them every time they got good.

It's a post hoc ergo propter hoc league. Bill had to cause Tom, or Tom caused Bill. Tom won a SB, that proves Tom caused Bill. But wait, Bill drafted a great QB and coached him up! Aha! Maybe Bill caused Tom!

Feh.

The one thing I will say, is that if this team makes a run deep into the playoffs, NE becomes an even shinier object. Remember the days when guys came to NE to play with Tom/for Bill? That. Some more.

Don't shoot the messenger, I am just quoting what the Patriots said loud and clear all over the field yesterday, and they said it right to our doom and gloom brigade. STFU. You're not right. You've never been right.

Don't try to come back now and say "of course I'm happy with their play, they're doing everything I said to do."

Don't try to come back and say "I never said BB couldn't draft I said he couldn't draft in the high rounds blah blah blah."

You negative nancies were all having a *********** shamegasm or something when this team had a crap record (though they weren't out of games - but they WERE losing them.)

While real fans were counseling equanimity, the sky was always falling for you. Shut the FFFFFFFrock UP about how of course they're winning now they're doing what you said to do. Oh. Just. SHUT. UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP.

That's it man, you guys who spent the first few games saying how terrible everything the Pats did was, just shut up and look chastened until next season. Your line is NOT "this just proves me right." Your line is "I was so far past wrong it takes the light from wrong a year to hit me. I will learn if you please let me stay?"

That's all I got. I don't remember the names of these guys, news flash, I also don't name my dookies, even the really impressive ones I take pictures of. You know who you are. Well, you don't, but you know whether I mean you or not.

Ffffckn shut tf up.

**** you.

EDIT: Sorry about that... What I meant to write was **** you, you ****ing whiny ****ing metro ****ing BillyB dikk-likkin' ****ing lemming.

Again, apologies for the earlier post.

are you 12? because only a child would get this worked up about other people's opinions on an internet message board....

Typical reactions ^ by the "everything sucks and will suck now that Tom's gone" crowd.

No shame, self-awareness or real football smarts...

OP is right.

Listen, fans had the right to some negativity. The team transformed from a historic juggernaut to a pretender overnight in 2019, lost its greatest player, then fielded a bottom 5 roster in 2020. We have the right to question most of the high profile draft picks from 2016 - 2019, and the botched Sanu trade.

That said, the speed at which a sizable population of regional fans turned on the team and its coach is embarrassing. If you listened to Felger and Mazz, you heard them repeatedly openly hoping the team would lose to just expose Belichick as a fraud. Fans called into the show and agreed. Fans posted onto this board and agreed. Just two seasons removed from an improbable Super Bowl run and one season into its rebuild, fans ere already turning away

Seriously, wtf is that behavior all about? People around here have acted like entitled brats, like winning is our birthright and if our organization cannot produce a champion every single year then the entire organization should be blown up. Patriots fans are behaving like the self-imposed long-suffering loser mentality that dominated the region in the 90's is our identity, and that we have somehow suffered so much that we have transcended losing. It's gross, and it reinforces every negative stereotype that fans elsewhere in the country have of us.

Then again, this is the fanbase that threatens violence if you stand up to cheer during a home game, so maybe this kind of childishness should be expected.

well..all I got to say is...if your shake that "speare" of yours at me, well...we may have a problem...
The Joker said, "Don't look my way.
Out of the crosshairs is where I must stay.
But if by some chance
You take that speare out of your pants
Shake it in a friendlier way."

Best I could do being nice.

"Words of hate"? Dingleberry, my gosh,
Do you hate random bugs that you squash?
Hate's a trap, it's a fetter,
What you feel for your betters...
Hate's what these guys have for Josh

Joker's ex is a real dirt whore skank
Between her legs lurks quite a stank
The stench is not from Joker
He has a clean poker
It's from turning herself into a sperm bank.
