Kyle Shanahan: no guarantee Jimmy G will be on roster on Sunday

It will just baffle me if the Patriots look at another team's fragile reject and go "Yup, that's the future!"

If he's traded for cheap and they draft a QB high that's one thing, but Mr Glass can't be the master genius plan for the future... can he?

Yeah.....after all, the Patriots coach who is known as the greatest mind in football history for taking rejected players from other rosters is just the guy to look at that "fragile reject" and take SF's brain trust's determination on blind faith.

What makes that even more obvious is it's the exact same guy who is the QB the same coach drafted higher than any QB and spent years grooming to be the heir apparent and was forced to trade in the first place.

How are you not paid for genius insight?

You also left off where he takes other team's rejects AT BARGAIN PRICES, and largely as role players rather than stars (with some exceptions.) Such as Cam, who the team is (we pray, anyway) desperate to replace.

Like I said, I'm down with Jimmy G if he's a cheap project, like most of Belichick's bargain bin guys have historically been.

If it's Cam v Grapes for the starter I'm going to be eyeing... well, not the cyanide pill, but some bourbon at least.

I would be willing to give next year's 2nd-rounder - but Not this year's 3rd, and certainly not #46; we don't have enough top-100 picks as it is (thanks Kraft Productions)...But there would also have to be enough of a re-structuring to make him fit under our cap, I'm ass-uming...
The contract seems like the big hurdle at this point. I’m not sure how it might work. We cannot trade for his current contract, but a restructure would have to be agreeable to BB and JG. I’m sure others can tell me how we create a contract for another team’s player...

the agent that worked out the Bridgewater deal should be able to help. $1000 an hour might get his advice and help. :)

you arent wrong. every year we hear these kids pumped up as if they are all the next brady. Goff was hyped up, trubisky was hyped up. And there were guys drafted later, or in later rounds who ended up being better. of the top 5 guys, I guarantee at least one will be a bust, one will underperform, maybe one will live up to their potential, and one who is drafted later will surprise and look better than one of the top guys.

either way, no guy is a sure thing. Its just as fans the "potential" or a fields is they will be the next mahomes etc. where we know what Jimmy G is. Fields might be the next big thing if the patriots get him, or he might underperform. theres no way of knowing how these guys will perform in the NFL

I do think this team can win with Jimmy G though. its built like the super bowl niners. and we have a strong OL/running game to hopefully protect him.
Oh ye of little faith! The next Akili Smith is OUT there, just WAITING to be picked high in the first round! :D

Mel Kiper on Jamarcus Russell....horrifyingly wrong

OK Francis

Rumor is JimmyG is gone. But, if there are NO trade partners, do they just release him???

That said, MacJones is the Niners pick.

we'll know soon..one way or the other. I wish it would start tonight...so much hysteria over a freakin' draft...of course if the Pats do make this deal, Rung666 will be on suicide watch...

Wasn't it just yesterday that I read that Denver had offered SF a 2nd for Garoppolo?

I guess SF put that out there to push the Pats or WFT, right?

I'm laughing right now at how entertaining this off-season has been.

Are we starting a "prediction" pre-draft thread?

I don’t think anybody within the NFL even had to put that out there. Sileo just makes up enough stuff on his own.

For whatever it's worth Jimmy G has a no-trade clause, so SF being "offered" something for JG only is relevant if he wants to go there.

why? so it can be clear to everyone that they don't have a backup?
They signed Nick Sudfeld and, if Jimmy goes, would perhaps sign Nick Mullins as well.

Oh, I know. My guess is tha the's chomping at the bit to get out of SF and back to NE.

The guy who stanned for Carson Wentz doesn’t Jimmy back? Fascinating.
