I'm about 3 players short of a full roster. LFG!!

I still think if Bill can't get a QB, he will get Jimmy as I think the 9ers will do everything they can to get Watson, Darnold, or trade up for a QB.

Curious, how does:
Smith, Henry, Asiasi and Keane
work with 3 or 4 of them on the field at the same time? Doesn't that create mismatches with size against corners and speed against LBs? Was last year a whiff on TE's or are they cooking up something different, like we saw in the SB against the Rams?
Obvious run personnel on the field, then they spread it out? Just curious

I do.

If the rookie QB they like is sitting there at 7 or later they are pouncing. It'll take their 15 this year and maybe a couple more. BB might trade his 1 next year but I doubt it.

They are probably going to be 10-6ish next year and too far back to move that high up.

...or they are sandbagging how they feel about Stidham which I don't think they are.

Unless he restructures his deal I don't think they have the cap space anymore to trade for Jimmy.
They have to get the QB. I don’t care how much they have to trade up or if they sit still but they have to get the qb.

There will be some formations with 3 of them, but I would say most of the time you're looking at 2 or less. The reason to have depth there though, is that if you want your base offense to be based on 2-TE's you need MORE than two TE's that you trust. Otherwise you're one injury away from having to abandon your base. I don't know if that's what they're going for (or if they feel good enough about Asiasi and/or Keene to even make it relevant), but that would be the philosophy.

No way they are paying Jimmy $26m with his injury history. That I am certain of.
They can extend Jimmy, let him get his 26 mill with 25 of it converted to Sb on a 3 year extension. 7 mill cap hit, but I’d rather go all in on the draft choice.

Granted, I just washed over the depth part of it as it's implied. Not many teams go get the top FA's at TE after drafting two in the 3rd round, especially when you already have 2 FB's on the roster. Seems like either Asisasi and Keene are underwhelming, or.... there's something afoot schematically.

Certainly doable. He's so fragile though...

I like JG, but his injury history concerns me.. even though his cap hit can be minimized would rather try to trade up for a QB (Mac Jones??) who can be here for up to 5 years...

I think they would like to have Jimmy G back evidenced by the fact that they engaged the 49ers twice but I don't think he's going anywhere.

They aren't going to release a starting caliber QB if they don't have a viable replacement. All these teams talked a big game about QB movement and then when push came to shove stuck with their guys.

Mac should be there at 15 but I think they have bigger plans.

Based on my count you have up to 10 teams which can justify drafting a QB ahead of NE. The bidding could get out of hand.

Yeah, looking at that list, I can see Jax/Jets (thats a given) then other wildcards Houston, Atlanta, Philly, Detroit, Carolina, Denver, San Fran, Minnesota as All possibilities of teams who aren't exactly enamored with their QB's and may take a chance at drafting a guy to compete.

i'd say Jax, Jets, Carolina are locks. San fran > 50% they take someone as they thought about moving from Jimmy this year. So, clearly they are looking for an upgrade.

Atlanta, Philly, Detroit, Denver, Minnesota depends on how they feel about their current QB's and if they feel they can "win now" with them and would be better served adding another talented piece. but a few of them definitely will take the opportunity to look for a better option. Like, how does Philly feel about Hurts, or how does denver feel about Lock, does Detroit view Jared goff as someone they might be able to resurrect?

so, if Bill really wants someone he might have to give up a hefty price.

Why would the Lions take a QB when they just paid the world for Goff? No chance imo, just keeping the option ''open'' as a ploy to drive up the price other teams pay.

Agree with the 3 locks and I think the others will end up sticking with what they have. Even if one of them takes a QB, Mac should still be available.

Regardless I think we will trade up, this is Bill's chance to get a QB he sees 5-10 years in, but one that can also help us now, while the team is stacked and he'll get good protection with a good mentor in Cam. Bill isn't stupid, he knows Cam won't make the most out of this team but he's a relatively cheap cover who knows the playbook somewhat.

As an aside, Pats were given a 5th Round Comp Pick......Just hope BB targets a QB in Rd one.....Moving up is ok by me....no way they get to keep 10 picks on the roster......

I agree many teams COULD take a QB, but if I was to look at the list and say if it is more likely that they do or do not take a QB, I'd lean towards far fewer.

JAX - duh, Lawrence
NYJ - Would say yes, they go QB
MIA - They'll stick with Tua
ATL - They just committed longer-term to Ryan so I say no
CIN - No
PHI - Think they are more likely to be intentionally bad to shed dead money and rebuild, while also seeing what Hurts has got
DET - No, they'll stick with Goff for now, probably trade back
CAR - Yes they want a QB, probably - if they don't trade for Watson
DEN - They still like Lock
DAL - No
NYG - No
SF - I think yes but not totally sold
LAC - No
MIN - No
NE - Yuuuuup

So that's 4 teams ahead of NE that are more likely a "Yes" than a "No"... which IMO is still too many, they may need to try to get up to 7, maybe higher...
