I think they might have won an extra game or two on top of the 5 they won the year before but the offense wasn’t really suited to Drew’s strengths. With Drew it was a pass first offense which didn’t really suit what Bill seemingly wanted to do. When Brady came in they went to a run first offense that chewed up the clock and it worked combined with a good defense.I was glad at the time, but the talent in 2001 was better than 2000 and even with Bledsoe, the record would have been better, but of course no SB.
There is no doubt Bill helped Brady immensely in becoming the player he is now but that that was a two way street. If Drew never gets hurt maybe Bill never plays Brady and he Bill has another sub .500 year in 2001 and we saw that even with Brady the 2002 team was flawed. A few years of losing and maybe more Terry Glenn’s pop up in the locker room and Bill is a two time failure as a head coach and likely never gets another shot.
