DRAFT BGC 2021 Pre-Draft/Patriot-Type Prospect(s) thread

What do you think about joe tryon from washington? He opted out the whole season. Is he one of those boom or bust players?
I go back and forth on him. Versatile but not sure he wins with enough power or plays with enough power consistently to really hold up on the edge any better than what we have already. Looks like he has to clean up his processing in terms of taking on blocks, counters. Boom or bust is a decent description of his potential.

Holy HELL that #26 is fast.. He was 12-13 yards behind Davis when Davis made the interception. He could have EASILY passed Davis but slowed up to make sure the opposing player trailing Davis couldn't make a play.. Any information on #26?
Yea Kentucky's defense has been a fav of mine to watch the last few years. RS Senior I think that's been an academic standout and multiple sport athlete coming out.
Small but a lot of confidence and attitude. Decent tackling in the open field, not the worst in run support but again he's so small. Think he'll have to compete for a nickel spot which is probably his best role next level.

I had hope for him before the season and was excited to see how his pass rush would develop.
He can be definitely an Upgrade for our early down defense with potential to grow. Can give us some much needed beef upfront but 2020 season tbh was a disapointment on passing downs. Some sources said they view him only as a two down NT/ heavy 3 tech but who knows. Still has room to grow

If he can stay healthy he could be dominant. Wouldn't read too much into his 2020, it was after 2nd straight leg injury, season up in the air due to covid.. Maybe he needs to tone/balance his upper/lower body strength better but there seems much to work with & by some accounts he has great work ethic. Plus he's into literature, writes poetry (like Garrett) so there's a plus in my book..

If I had to guess, using my scale from past history ...
Lawrence - easy first round

...

Wilson/Fields

Day two
Lance will go top 10 but my scale will have a 2nd on him mostly based on small sample size

...

Mills/Jones

Day 3
Trask
Buechele

Maybe Book, Ehlinger and Cook late rounds.

1)actually looks like a deep draft despite the drop off but good luck after round two.

2)watch Davis Mills. I'm gambling on him > Jones if people are serious about using a top 15 pick on Mac.

You are not alone in 2nd round Lance

Here is imo best qb breakdown i found so far:

Dont know if you've seen his breakdowns yet. The attitude might not be to everyones taste but his breakdowns are legit.

He's also higher on Mac than most and i tend to agree esp. for a BB philosophy

Pretty much well documented, but this kid is incredible.

Mills is definitely on my radar, too. I like him, Mond, and Ehlinger, but I'm not sure any of them are more than high end backups. Odd year.

I think BB might be higher on Jones than on Lance cause Lance except from his Legs doesn't quit look like a fit in our offense cause he likes to be aggressive and throw deep shots. Jones is probably more comfortable with the short intermediate thing. But I am thrilled with Lance ability to run. This would be huge for our offense bc other defenses really need to fear his legs, it would give us pretty much a third threat next to passing and running and open the play book. Some Decisions from Lance are a little concerning tough, bc he scrambles a lot and try to force it, which can end up with a sack instead of throwing the ball away. His arm strength and deep accuracy are great tough really fun to watch in my opinion.
I wouldn't hate a Lance pick but question is where other teams project him...trading up to 6-10 for the risk, do you think it will be worth it? According to PFF Simulator i did trade up to 8 for our First Second and 2022 third..don't know if its worth the shot.....maybe teams see Jones after his performances higher than Lance who knows

QB is not about legs or arm. Its about the mind. Its hard to know the mind so people look at arms and legs ;)

There were 21 SBs this century . 19 were won with 'pocket' QBs. Very easy to count rushing yrds of SB winning QBs ;)

They say the game is changing yet January is still about the same things - coaching, defence, smart QB and last but not at all least - team health.

I agree but I mean how should we value the clutch and mind thing it's extremly hard to value with only watching Film and not speaking with those guys.
I just think it's a real threat if the qb can run like lamar type. I mean a lot of defenses struggled to contain that and if we build up a run game like this year with some weapons or deep threats you have a variety of plays to be an succesfull offense. Of course if the qb isn't consistent or has other issues like mind or whatever you May not have the franchise qb we need but it's just the versality what combined with accuracy clutch would be really nice. I don't know if lance or jones have this, it's tough to value this for me. I honestly like offenses with a pocket passer more but if the qb can't extend plays with legs or run a couple of yards if the play is screwed we would need a really good protection with weapons to get consistent open and catch. I just like versality a lot

I don't mind if anyone post videos or such. I actually like it for others. Different opinions. They're not for me though. I prefer to really go it solo. I'm spending increasingly less time on Twitter and other places. It's not that I don't think anyone is smart or insightful. I just find most of that stuff as noise. To me, it's my hobby. I don't want any other thoughts or opinions invading my little bubble when it comes to grading/thoughts on a player. I'm a weirdo, I know. Again I don't mind anyone posting anything relevant to the subject though.

Regarding Lance and my grade. I just know bc he has a limited sample size he won't get a big grade from my scale.

These old man thoughts are killing me lol.

Hainsey is an athlete. Polished in pass pro. Quick feet, accurate strikes. Doesn't get talked about enough but with so many prospects it's tough to mention everyone.

This OL group is insane. I could see 15 going top 50-60. And yea I hope we take advantage. We'll have every opportunity if that's the direction we want to go in - especially with Thuney-Cannon-Andrews uncertainty.

Hopefully we can reload the G and C interior OLine spots using mid round picks and not pay absurd money to all 3 of Thuney, Andrews, and Mason. Just not good cap management to sink that much $ into interior OLine.

The question with athletic running quarterbacks is whether they will acquire the patience to go through their progression instead of taking off and gaining yardage with their feet when the first option is covered. A second concern is durability in the NFL.

I like Mills in the games I've watched, played well against Washington. Seems poised, good arm, footwork is solid. I personally like him more than Mond and Ehlinger i am with you, he is a pro QB but I can't tell if he's a starter. He's better than Trask, and I'm with BCG that he is likely better value than taking Jones 15
