Stafford traded to Rams

Could we stop with the BS of "Complete lack of weapons". It's false and it's a complete insult to the players here.

RB - Harris, Michel, Taylor, Bolden
WR - Edelman, Meyers, Harry, Olszewski
TE - Asiasi, Keene, Izzo

Harris, Michel, and Taylor give the Patriots a Top 5 RB group. San Fran, Dallas, Houston, Arizona are the only ones better, IMHO. Harris, Michel and Taylor teased us with what they can do in the receiving game. Bolden did decently in the receiving game in 2019, but it remains to be seen if the Patriots keep him or decide to move on.

Yes, Edelman is old. Who knows if he'll be back. But for now, he's the Grizzled veteran of the group. Olszewski looks like he's rounding nicely into a similar type of player. Meyers looks to be the next Givens. With even a DECENT QB, Meyers should put up 1000 yards on a season.
Harry is still an enigma. He's not as bad as the haters on here have said. He has room to grow for certain.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats brought in another WR either in the draft or through Free Agency just to keep things fresh. We may also see Byrd back. A decent QB would probably life him up close to 800 or 900 yards.

Asiasi and Keene are unknowns because of the COVID season and the injuries both suffered that hampered the season further. But NO ONE knows what we have in them. Both teased us. Izzo is under-rated by many. He finished the season catching 10 of 12. But, with the team being a Run first team and the issues at QB, the reality is that our passing game in ALL aspects was hampered.

This BS that the Patriots has a history of providing subpar weapons is also complete BS. People seem to forget that they went out and got the likes of MOSS, WELKER, and AMENDOLA. That they traded for Cooks.

Anyone who looks at the 2020 season and thinks that it's representative of the Pats offense needs their head examined. Newton's inability to throw passes hurt this offense tremendously. I said it before and I'll say it again, the reason that Newton's completion % was at 65.8% was because of the RECEIVERS and not Newton. They're the ones who caught his ill-thrown passes on a regular basis. I think I can count on both hands the number of well thrown passes by Newton on the entire season. Newtons inability to read defenses properly and to throw the ball on time really hurt this offense.

Dude, what are you smoking

WR - Edelman, Meyers, Harry, Olszewski
TE - Asiasi, Keene, Izzo

is the very definition of lack of weapons aka skill positions. Most of these guys won't even make other team's rosters.

He said the ENTIRE OFFENSE. That's not the entire offense.

BTW, Meyers is a good receiver. Sorry that you don't understand that. And I'd put money that most of them would be on other team's rosters.

People who write off rookies after one season have opinions that are the equivalent of dog poop..

I'll say this. If Stafford didn't want to come to New England because he hates a defensive consultant for the team, I don't want the guy. He is way too soft in my book then. Think about it. Stafford would have zero interaction with Patricia unless he happened to pass him in the hallways. If he is such a snowflake that he cannot accidentally bump into Patricia at the water cooler, he has no business being in a Patriots' uniform. Good luck to him in LA.

I think its because
(1) Matt Patricia
(2) Complete lack of weapons
(3) History of providing subpar weapons to QB

We have no idea who will be the Patriots' WRs come September. The Pats have a boatload of money to spend in free agency.

And the Pats have given Brady weapons. Have we forgotten how stacked the Pats were in 2007? Sure Belichick doesn't believe in spending money on stud WRs (although that may change now that Brady is gone), but he has put talent around Brady. Sometimes he has tried and failed (Chad Johnson for example), but he has give Brady players like Moss, Welker, Branch, Edelman, Gronk, Hernandez (before he went psycho killer), etc. Sure other teams have given their QB far more, but many others have given their QBs less.

so if i am to believe curran because he did say anywhere, stafford was willing to go to jacksonville, houston, jets, arizona, kc, green bay, tampa bay, chargers, philly, atlanta, and seattle ? okay sure.

If Patricia is as bad as Lions players said then he must be pretty damn miserable to work for. I'd totally understand if that turned off Stafford, the potential of having to work with him some capacity.

I don't even know where to begin with this one. Holy crap.

I think it is BS because I can't see Stafford saying that he is willing to go to a team he knows he will likely spend the rest of his career on a losing team like he has been in Detroit (whichever that team is), but he won't go to New England.

My guess if he didn't New England, it was one of probably about a dozen teams that he refused. My guess after spending his entire career on a losing franchise, he was wants to be on a team that has a shot to win a Super Bowl. I really doubt he said any team but NE.

and you can throw cincinnati, baltimore and prob cleveland and pittsburgh on that list as well so as usual another boston sports writer is wrong .... again.

I can see Stafford not wanting to play with Patricia. I still think he is soft and a snowflake if he told the Lions he refuses to be traded to New England because of Patricia. I can't see Brady doing that. We are talking about a defensive consultant who may or may not even be on the sidelines during the game.

That deal is absolutely insane for a 33 year old QB. Rams are complete morons.

Of course he doesn’t want to play here. Matt Patricia sounded like an absolute idiot at the lions. This is the same genius who put the SB52 defensive plan in place and is the reason Brady doesn’t already have 7 rings.

Patricia sounded like an egotistical, my way or the highway **** show of a coach. There was no nuisance to what he brought to the table. If I am Stafford and I saw this first hand and he held me back for nearly 3 years - I would absolutely want nothing to do with him going forward either.

Staffords wife is a Karen........this place is too damned liberal for her

for the start of the 2021 season:

wr - Samuel (fa), Reynolds (fa), Meyers, Marshall (2nd round pick), Harry, olszewski, Moore (ole miss 3rd round pick)
Te - Asiasi, Keene, izzo
Qb - free agent (tbd), Jones (1st round pick), stidham

qb remains the wildcard.

The short version:

Let me counter your argument that the Patriots have terrible skill players. These guys can’t be terrible because they’re playing for the Patriots.

Jimmy G has had the fastest expiring Superbowl appearance feel-good I have ever seen. My mid season they were all ready to move on. Crazy.

Second half and especially 4th quarter of the SB was very bad for him. They probably thought they had the game won.

he definitely got tight in the fourth quarter, but the play calling was definitely terrible as well. Shanahan had a history of choking badly as well.

Its not about if they can perform. its that they have to bow down to the media.i mean francona and epstein couldnt survive after delivering after 86 yrs.
Someone needed to be fired after 2011.

You might want to re-consider that particular position...
