Maybe. I think it’s s bit of an unfair criticism for someone to say he proved he’s just a system QB if he struggles in Tampa at 43 years old.
Only idiots say that any way so I’m sure he doesn’t care.

I agree, but you saw in 2018 how personally he takes media criticism. He was playing the "I'm too old" card throughout the playoffs. Sensitivity to what others think has been a driving force for him throughout his career, ever since he was overlooked at Michigan and how so many teams passed on him in the 2000 draft.
But no one with a shred of knowledge or intelligence would call brady a system QB. It’s ludicrous and no one gets offended by ignorant comments from morons.

Yeah, I don't think it was just the receivers or line or whatever. The line was perfectly fine after Wynn returned. Brady missed passes he used to make. Time started creeping up on him in 2018 (witness the Super Bowl) and came at him with a vengeance last year.

Yeah, I don't think it was JUST the receivers either. However, I do think that played a huge part. Not just a minor one.

Like I've said before I don't think brady is good enough anymore to play with trash and still make it work. However, I have zero reason to believe at this moment in time that if you give him great players he can't still get it done. I won't believe that until I actually see it. The only thing last year showed me is that brady couldn't get it done with trash around him. Let's see how he looks when he has real play makers. My guess, pretty good.

LOVE the Dalton Keene pick. VT fan, watched him all year. TE group may actually be solid this year

Stop hitting the crack pipe. Tampa is in the playoffs barring injuries to all three of Evans, Godwin and Gronk.
Injuries happen. Look at the Pats last year

Most likely, but they could be anywhere from a 1 seed to 7 seed.

I have the impression that we overpayed for the trades.. Would like to see the value of the picks.. Anyone has it?

My thoughts on need:
Not looking at all pro at every position but the liklihood of improving the team.

QB. Need to take one at some point. If they believe stidham can be the man I trust the staff and their ability to educate QBs. The arm is there. Transactions at this spot will tell you whether they believe the mental part is there and the maleability. But need a draft choice for backup/competition.

RB. I do not see a need here, including FB
WR. Everyone other than Edelman and Harry can be upgraded. Theoretically a lot today and a little through round 7.

TE. All 3 types of TE, blocker, receiver, full time can be upgraded and any decent draft choice should be able to make the roster. I see 2 being picked this weekend.

OL assuming the health of last years 2 choices I wouldn’t use anything earlier than 5 on ol (need wise) but every draft should have at least 1 ol.

DT. A big huge run stuffing stud would be the best thing this d could add. Aside from that guy, Allen, butler, cowart is a pretty solid group.

De/Olb. Whether we are 4-2 base or 3-3 base 2 of this group is on the field whether you call them de or olb. I think it looks more like 4-2 and last year was an adjustment to the roster. I think winovich replaces van noy and I’m good with that. The other side is Simon/Copeland/Wise and I see it as upgradeable early but after round 4 we won’t improve what we have.

LB we play 2 LBs max (see de/olb description for the 3rd) we have Hightower and Bentley. We have no depth. Any lb drafted should make the roster but won’t play a lot. This is a mid round need to me.

S- an early pick could be S3 or S2 if Chung can’t stay healthy. Jujuan moving here is a possibility. Early pick will make the roster late pick would have to be st demon.

CB- no need but the late pick on the special team demon with upside could make the team.

K. Need one. Obviously.

P don’t. Obviously.

are you sure the future 6th is Pats one and not one of the two they gained due to trades (Bennett to Dallas and Thomas to the Jets)?

They said it was the one we received from the Jets from the Thomas trade. I just estimated a mid round 6th

Studarm is unproven beyond a pick six. Our offense is as bad as last season MINUS Tom Brady. The defense is lesser than it was but seems like it'll continue being good in the long run.

We will be fighting for second in the division...hopefully.

What did you expect from the post Brady years, continue winning 80% of their games? If they even have a shot at the Wild Card game this season I’ll be thrilled. Belichick’s job at this point is to build the entire roster to a Championship level, and hopefully find the right QB to lead the franchise before hanging them up. They resigned Caserio, which was the most important move they had to make imo, They are absorbing the dead money and cap hits now so as to free up cap space in coming years. And now they are having a Draft that is adding speed and athleticism at positions of need, without sacrificing future Draft capital. Hopefully they will be able to create more cap space to fill some holes with veterans by a positive resolution to the Antonio Brown grievance, and then we will see how competitive they are next season, and where work needs to be done. If they are seriously contending for a Lombardi again 3-4 years from now I’ll be really happy with the rebuild, if not Belichick will have failed in the rebuild. I don’t believe he will fail, and I’m going to be fascinated to see how he goes about this.

ok so it was stated that it was the Jets pick? haven't found it out yet which one they gave away next year, thanks

though if its the Jete one, its probably top 5 pick in any round :D

When the trade went through I read it was believed to be the Jets pick from the Thomas trade. I forgot all about that trade compensation so I know I read it somewhere. Saying that it could have been speculation. The Jets picked 11th this year. My estimate was for the 2021 pick being in the 14th spot and mid round. It was the only even number in that area of the 6th round. So on my estimate the value can swing 5 or so points one way or the other. That is why I used middle of the round

Patriot type players one and all so far...no complaints

we are going with a retired once a generation talent as the standard of what Mr. Duggar defended?
I am not going to criticize the pick...but I understand people who would.

My point was that criticism of a player of this caliber because he went to a Division 2 or 1A (or whatever they call the bowl sub-division conferences these days) is no indicator of how good this guy will be. Dugger is a stud physically and every bit a 2nd rounder who would not have been there at 87. He was the next best safety on the board after Xavier McKinney was picked just before the Pats went on the clock.

@Deus Irae jumped on my post referencing Randy Moss as well. I should have written something more nuanced about Div 2 players.

Dugger reminds me of Cordarelle Patterson as a return man, and excelled at the Combine in the 40 and vertical leap. If he's Patrick Chung's understudy in 2020, Belichick got a good one.

Do you mean Marquise Lee?!

Yes. Marqis Lee is a very interesting acquisition to go with the current crop of receivers. Low risk, high upside if he can stay healthy. I like the two TE picks a lot as well.

Edelman, Harry, Meyers, Sanu, Gunner, Lee, Asiasi and Dalton "Rambo" Keene is looking good to me. More to come in the draft, free agency and UFA I imagine.

The backfield has a bunch of pass catchers as well.

Randy Moss went to FSU he only went to Marshall cause of off field problems which is also why he dropped. This dude spent 6 years in colllege I’d hope he would dominate after the 5th year

FSU? As we all know in the ACC, anybody who leaves FSU for the NFL takes a pay cut.
