PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp Day 2

I know the reporters have to post something to justify their phoney-baloney jobs - but man, tracking practice stats has to be one of the lamest modern trends ever.
Coaches track practice stats.
Are they lame too?

Hollins was having fun, putting on a show. Under the leg, behind the back, he might have a good pair of hands.

Elliss doesn’t get much love on this board, but maybe he’s better on the field than we think he is? But it’s still early…

Every season the Pats have these kind of guys that look so hopeful.

If he sticks, Prentice would be that safety valve that Maye lacked last season.

Was it that Maye lacked a safety valve last season? Or was it that he wouldn’t use it, preferred using his legs?

I don't know about Crownover. I doubt they carry only 1 IOL backup in Ben Brown, and 3 backup OT's. I know Lomu may be able to play some Guard in a pinch, but it looks like Rupcich could make the 53. He has center experience too.
Considering that they've carreid as many as 10 O-linemen, aren't you worrying about nothing right now?
Having 3 back-up OTs wouldn't be a bad thing considering Moses age.

Usually there are extra IOL but we could be seeing a case where they carry extra on the PS. Rupcich would have to have a helluva came to stay on the 53. He spent the entirety of last year on the PS. It could also be that Bryant might be cross-training to move inside as well. Or possibly Crownover. We don't know the specifics that go outside of the media / fan access.

I'm still hoping they don't get rid of Boutte.
I get it if he wants a better opportunity to get a good contract, that makes sense.
I just think he's too good to let go for crap.

I could see the Pats lining up Brown, Doubs, and Boutte in Trips and just taunting the Defense on whom to cover. All three have the ability to run routes out of the slot..

My view is that Elliss is good sideline to sideline because he is fast and the distance gives him time to think. When Elliss is filling run holes quickly between the tackles, he misses too much for me.

Sometimes it is a tradeoff. Tavai and Bentley were great run stuffers (between the tackles), but slower players, so they are good for a few years until injuries or age slow them down and their speed becomes a liability. Elliss has speed, we will see if his quick decision making improves (I doubt it).

Would Josh ever do anything like that?

Lol. Can’t wait.

He’s just one piece. Interested to see how he fits in. If he makes just one play a year like decelerating Jaxson I hope he sticks around. As long as it isn’t costly the rest of the time. But he made his share of plays last year as I recall. Definitely room for improvement, hope we see growth this year.

the latter. to be fair, he didn't have a lot of extra time.

Food for thought:

Prentice: 1.58/2.51/4.39 40 splits, 4.50 short shuttle, 7.16 three-cone
Chism: 1.62/2.72/4.71 40 splits, 4.06 short shuttle, 6.77 three-cone

So you’re saying Prentice is this year’s Chism?

Is the board ready for such a revolutionary development?

How does Douglas compare? My vague recollection is he's like Prentice.

We’ve seen him on the field that’s why we see what he is.
He is an athlete so making plays like this are no surprise, but he struggles to read run plays and having any awareness in coverage.

Chism in college played 53 games and had 346 catches and 37 TDs. 120 catches his last year.

Prentice played 38 games over four years and had 86 catches and 11 TDs. His best year was his freshman year when he had 30 catches and 2 TDs.

Those numbers aren’t similar at all.
