Gunner to IR (to make room for Wynn)

A shame as Gunner was gutsy and a threat at PR on a team lacking offensive speed and big play capability.

Sounds like we’re ONE WR SHORT.

send me deep!

Damn. I’m going to miss him fielding the ball and running with a head of steam straight into a pile of tacklers.

Somehow the Patriots' punt return DVOA is nonetheless 7th ranked -- vs 17th last year.

Why wouldn't we want gunner in camp? He's signed and cost nothing to keep during camp and the preseason.

Gunner was a goner when they traded for Sanu... Question is if he will be with the team next yr

I have always wanted 9 OL's: 5 interior and 4 OT's. Newhouse is our swing OT. He will continue to be active, and be the backup at LT and RT. Cunningham is a developmental prospect for 2020.

Thats what I'm wondering.

They aren't going to need 9 OLs.

Is it now safe to say the 2007 WR group was better? Or not yet?

I don't think we need 5 on the inside but I understand your point. Having 9 is certainly reasonable.

Allen is still injured. I don't know the latest date that we can sign him and have him play in the playoffs.

But can you imagine Allen and Wynn blocking on the left side?

Who gives a rat's ass about the off-season right now?

What a stupid question.

Because decisions are never made based on thinking about the future. Especially if there is not too much upside to the released players relative to the younger developmental ones.

We have 3 inside positions. I believe that we always have 2 backups. Sometimes (often), we have 3 OT's.

The way I look at it is that we have 5 starters, 2 game day backups, and 2 inactive backups, developmental and/or in case of injury. Sometimes, we carry the injury protection on the Practice Squad.

That's why I don't get is the Gordon IR then release he didn't fail a drug test Bench him for coming late but how it went down Hmmmmm. The Position we are weakest and most injured just took another hit.
I think there was a lot more going on behind the scenes. Realistically we will never know.

...and I'll go back to NE needing a punt returner.

We are talking about DT as a WR4/5 here. WR4/5 need to play STs. Full stop.
Sanu returns punts, is he a WR4/5?
Why would DT be a 4/5: JE, MS, DT, PD, Harry, Myers.

Also, Gunner's release is to bring back Wynn. Does that mean Wynn will be returning punts? Could've kept DT and stuffed Gunner on PS way back then. Mistakes were made, clearly.

So their is an assumption there...that he is still injured. We don't know if he's healed from knee surgery or he wants to go back to school...as he has said recently. We shall see.

We've been running with Cunningham as the lone inactive. I think they want to see how Wynn does before they make another move.

If you have no faith then best to cut your loss now rather than when you really need him. This team would have been better off without ever sniffing AB. Anyone remember Irving Fryer and the SB? Look up the parable of the scorpion and the frog

Just checked and Chad Jackson is still only 34....... just saying...... he knows the playbook.....

I'd say hes more of a WR2/3 now and the reason why he is here is he can return punts AND be a top target.

I think we have a difference of opinion of how valuable and good DT really is. I think he is very, very average.

Is it your goal to become a smart ass during this discussion?

Either way, you are wrong. Mistakes were not made. I don't think you understand the concept of layering the roster with players that can do multiple things and maximizing their overall value to the team.

Please explain who returns punts when BB clearly does not want to use JE.
