JOSH GORDON REINSTATED

I’m not saying he sucked I’m saying he wasn’t a stud and coming in week 2 isn’t really a valid excuse to me.
You did not say sucked. But not excellent

Come on. He was excellent given the circumstances. Sure if you factor in all the crap he was a weirdo. But on pure performance he would get an A

Not to seem like I'm picking arguments with you but ...and correct me if I'm wrong (lol no need to say) but wasn't Moss's main job just to blow the top off the defense? How complex were his offensive responsibilities, due to just his freak combination of talent, speed, and athleticism compared to today's offense? This isn't to say "Moss was dumber" I just don't think that the two WRs skillsets are close enough to compare learning curves fairly
I’m simply saying Gordon shouldn’t get a pass for showing up week 3 when miss missed all of camp and never missed a beat.
Gordon was ok, he wasn’t a beast and I don’t believe it’s because he never learned the playbook

Excellence in my book isn’t “given the circumstances” you are excellent or you aren’t.
At no point last year did I see a dominant, excellent player.
If you did, ok.

Moss missed all of camp. It’s not that much different.

Please, you're going full Kamikaze here. Moss was in minicamp and training camp. He sat out some TC practices with a hammy, but he was in the meetings. He didn't play in any preseason games. By game one he knew the route tree - - he had 5 months to study it.

Randy Moss brings excitement to training camp, but Asante Samuel may stay away

"FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -Rodney Harrison knows that when he's working out, he can count on Randy Moss lifting weights in the same room.
Now comes the next test. Can the New England Patriots new wide receiver carry that effort and togetherness with teammates over to practices and games?
"He didn't lose a step," Harrison said. "He's fast, faster and fastest. And having been in minicamp and having those practices with him, I didn't see him drop one football. Not one."

The comparison to Gordon arriving in mid-September to learn a new system and meet Brady and the coaching staff for the first time is otherworldly.

I agree he was just ok especially since it seemed like he was getting forced the ball often. And I understand you're not outright comparing him to Moss outside of the whole how much time did he have to learn the playbook question but I think with that argument aside Moss was just such a generational talent and freak of nature that he probably could've played and produced without needing to see the damn playbook. It was week freaking 17 and dude was still catching 50 yard TD passes against double coverage lol

Ok, so, in no particular order....

Edelman
Gordon
Harry
Dorsett
Meyers
*Thomas

*On PUP list

Maybe Dorsett doesn't make the team................

"learn a new system"

You know he was here last year right?

He wasn’t excellent.

If you did, ok.
Making the immortal Tom Brady 65 yards better per game every game isn’t excellent ??!!

Oookkkk

You think after a month Gordon didn’t know the playbook?

So the argument is Gordon never learned the playbook?

Gotcha Andy. A player on the team for 4 months before missing most of training camp has no inherent advantage over someone picked up during the season.

Again you have created a silly criteria. Stud receivers who come in during the season. Gordon did the best of that club of one.

I did not see a dominant player. I saw a complementary piece who did ok. O saw nothing resembling 2013 Gordon

I’m not interested in debating excuses.
That’s what I saw.
I don’t buy the excuses.

If you saw something different or you are about excuses ok. We disagree.
There is zero point in going back and forth when we have totally different scales of excellent and totally different tolerances for using excuses to call ok excellent.

We should move on.

Andy is just being silly now, ignore him please.

Could be the best offense we’ve had since 2007..maybe even better. Hopefully a different ending...

You think Gordon made Tom Brady 65 yards better? Really?
Ok nothing left for us to discuss.

To Andy's point correlation does not equal causation. I like Gordon and I think he has great potential, especially after that game vs Indy but really it was just a couple of good games here and there and a lot of forced passes from Brady. I mean that Titans game was absolutely brutal with the forced throws ****. I think if lightning strikes here and he can stay focused and on track and out of trouble for just one year he will be outstanding but you've gotta play the games

Yeah, don’t worry about a team that took us to OT in the AFCCG, and we were able to beat with the aid in part of a timely offside penalty and a favorable coin flip. Won’t worry about them at all.
They’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Anything can happen. But the personnel on both teams didn't remain the same. Nobody knows how it will turn out, but I see the changes on the Pats D to look rather overwhelming and deep. Plus BB is going to directly coach them this year. This is his baby. Look out.

Just a reminder of what Gordon brought to the team last year...

Yes Gordon was great for us last year and produced 700+ yards. But also at times Brady zeroed in on him and threw him one too many jump balls and resulted in a few unnecessary interceptions. Brady relied on Gordon's physical ability to win jump balls (like all other QBs in the league do with star receivers) instead of our scheme's ability to open up ordinary JAGs like Hogan. Once Gordon was suspended Brady went back to looking for the open guy. I hope Brady doesn't get fixated on Gordon again.

This is the best news of the preseason.
