A lot of strange throws this season. During the second half of one game, he locked into Gordon hard like the old Moss days. He does not look like his cool and calm former self. I get worried when there is pressure around him, until I see the ball land. The feeling used to be pure confidence when the ball left his hand, this season that is not true.
Heavily in retrospect, not resigning DA80 hurt us big time. Matched with JE11, we presented a short space nightmare to defend against. It really took a lot of focus and opened other stuff up or was the exploit to execute.
Our read the defense and exploit what they aren’t defending isn’t as effective with the mix of talent we have. The way I perceive it, we have less short space quickness than we need, or had when we were very successful. Berrios fits a mold but time will tell if he fills the need. Edelman seems to be as up to speed as you could expect him to be after injury, although his deterioration is around the corner.
Gronk is either playing very injured or completely cooked. I can’t say which but if he isn’t injured that cliff came QUICK.
Hogan is a great threat deep if the defense is looking to stop your short yardage scheme, a useful role player who has seen a reduced role this season for clear reasons.
Dorsett was a solid contributor early on who has been silent since week 4. Injury, loss of faith or dynamic shift of the offense with the inclusions of Gordon and Edelman, who knows. Another good in space guy but not a short space player.
Gordon, if he sticks around, could be all sorts of a problem for other teams. I won’t hold my breath until it happens but he could be the guy to help Tom into the golden hour. Not the short space guy, but a hugely exploitable piece if the sport space gets focused on.
