So let me get this straight.... Alex "Magic Hands' Guerrero :Tom Curran has changed quite a bit in the last year, or so. Up until that time I never considered him a "homer", just a guy who was fair and not a hater. But, around the time of the Wickersham piece, he began to be more of a gloom and doomer. I believe it's largely related to the fact that he and his sons are fairly long-standing Guerrero clients. He definitely took Brady's side in the at least perceived Brady/ BB rift.
I don't think there is any doubt that subpar drafting is the biggest issue with the current roster. While it's too early to judge last year's draft, which doesn't look great so far, they have missed on too many picks since 2014, including:
2017/2nd Derek Rivers
2017/3rd Antionio Garcia
2016/2nd Cyrus Jones
2016/3rd Vincent Valentine
2016/3rs Jacoby Brissett
2015/1st Malcolm Brown
2015/2nd Jordan F'n Richards
2015/3rd Geneo Grissom
Basically, in those three drafts they got three starting caliber NFL players, Flowers, Mason & Wise. They are going to have to do better than that if they want to continue to contend for Championships.
A similar drought from 2005 - 2008 caused the pause that Current refers to between the two dynasties & they lost a ton of player personnel types (Robinson, Quinn, etc) over the past few years. Hopefully, they can stabilize their player personnel department and get back on track.

Players left from:
2014 draft - James White
2015 draft - Malcom Brown, Trey Flowers, Shaq Mason, Joe Cardona
2016 draft - Joe Thuney, Elandon Roberts, Ted Karras
2017 draft - Derek Rivers, Deatrich Wise
Literally LOL! I hope you didn't leap to those wild conclusions based upon my simple statement that Curran and his sons are Guerrero clients. If I'd have suggested that Curran doesn't like burritos, would you have concluded that the Krafts exhumed Pancho Villa's body, had it stuffed and propped it up in their owner's box with a Tiparillo in its mouth? Holy s###...So let me get this straight.... Alex "Magic Hands' Guerrero :
1) Owns space in Brady's head
2) Has the Patriots organization between his thumb and his forefinger
....and now....
3) Controls the media narrative
Imagine the heights Alex could have attained if he actually completed his degree at the Guadalajara Institute of Massage and Aroma Therapy
When Patriots 3.0 does come on line, I absolutely expect to see Mr. Guerrero booster-seated next to Mr. Kraft and his beverage boy Jonathan in the organization's remodeled sky box zen den. Two power brokers and a sidekick
I think the draft is very important. It gives teams a supply of players for 4 years
at relatively cheap salaries. Draft picks and UDFAs give teams inexpensive salaries
to help offset expensive salaries for star players.
Trading players = draft success. Everyone knows this.If Jordan Richards is a draft success, then nobody has ever had a bad draft.
You’re using a very loose definition of “played well.” We’re talking about a guy whose career record is 5-12, with a completion percentage of 59%, and a QB rating of 81. Also, in his 17 starts, he’s thrown a whopping total of 13 touchdown passes, for a percentage of 0.76 per game. So, you think that Jacoby Brissett was a bad draft pick? The guy who was traded for a former first rounder. The guy who played well while Brady was out on his suspension and who has since played well for the Colts?
Not strange at all really, if one boards that train at the very beginning....But his view of the Cooks trade is puzzling. In what world is acquiring an early 20's first round pick for an expensive, talented-but-not-a-great-fit WR with one year remaining on his contract a bad trade? Why would Wynn's subsequent injury factor into this evaluation?
Really strange train of thought there.
I have been preaching for years how well he coached in 2008. That was a damn good team, even without Brady, by the end of the year.
This is high comedy. Thanks.2014 - Jimmy Garrapolo traded. Cam Fleming gave 4 average years, left via Free Agency.
2015 - Jordan Richards traded. AJ Derby traded. Both still in the league.
2016 - Jacoby Brissett traded.
2017 - Only drafted 4 players. 1 was let go due to an illness that NO ONE saw coming..
Malcolm Mitchell and Vincent Valentine both looked solid, but couldn't recover from their injuries. How is that the fault of the Patriots?
People who refuse to acknowledge the draft capital obtained are showing their ignorance.

He’s freaking awful, and the idea that he’s good because they traded him for a player who was about to get cut is an odd suggestion. As a matter of fact, there are some in the NE media who believe that Brissett was going to be cut as well.
Like I said, it was something discussed on podcasts and talk shows, so I don’t have a link to provide because it was speculative. I was simply noting the rumor. Please provide your link that the Patriots were going to cut Brissett..
