Wtf happened with Brissett deal?

Hoyer is at least better than the alternative.... Etling.

Um... Based on the endless angst over trading away 2 upside QB s in the same season maybe..? Maybe I should rephrase. ... " Wonder if second guessing pats fans should watch this game." Since there will be many moments where both QB s will look really good imo...
Second guessing then hoping something happens to make you right is silly to me.

Neither would have ever played significant meaningful snaps here afterward if they had been kept.

Except Jacoby had no upside here because he would have never gotten the snaps to develop and the scheme change to account for his issue with reading progressions and slow release. But keep thinking that keeping JB on the bench would have magically made him "improve" as much as being the starter for the Colts for essentially the full season.

I can't believe that we're talking about Garoppolo and Brissett in the same collective breath. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being best, JG is about a 3 and Brissett is about a 7. We can thank Tuna Crap for JB.

Yeah, yeah we all talk about the Garoppolo deal, but how did we lose so poorly on the Brissett deal? Based on reports of the Seahawks offering a 2nd rder for the kid, and the Colts turning it down, makes me think that trading Brissett for Phillip freaking Dorsett is one of the worst trades that we have ever done.

Well obviously Mr. Brady went over Belichick's head and demanded to Kraft that all the backup Qbs be traded. In a rush to get rid of them, they never really considered their worth.

Mr. Brady was threatened by the mediocrity that Brissett displayed against Houston and Buffalo, but he was more threatened by Garoppolo's display of mediocrity against some bum teams that we beat every season. Belichick became so deep in his feelings at the audacity of Brady going over his head that he traded those boys off for some chump change and more scrubs.

So Brissett was going to be on the bench and dropped after his rookie contract expired anyway, the other one was clearly requesting a contract in the upper $20 million because he knew his demand and worth given all the hype over 2 mediocre performances against crappy defenses. Belichick was actually going to pay G, despite never ever paying Brady that type of money, that much change to sit on the bench until Brady, who just won the Superbowl, retired. Brady couldn't deal with that. The trash had to go or he was going to go.

Mr. Brady knew that despite NE not having a decent defense since 2009, that Belichick would really trade him away, and rely on injury-prone Jimmy G or J Brissett to get him a ring vs. Tom Brady who's been dragging this patchwork of a team to championship after championship, and hardly ever injured thanks to those rubs from Guerrero. Really? But of course, this whole narrative makes since if you're desperate for an answer to what's the beef between Brady and Belichick.

We still don't know the answer to that. However, given the facts, we can all assume that teams did not value Brissett and G enough to give up first round picks. The backups played two games against trash teams, and they were hardly doing anything special that any other stooge on the bench couldn't have done. B and G may be worth first picks now, given that they've had way more playing time than they did in NE, but if NE could've got a first-round pick for any of them at the time, they would have got it.

Poor Dorsett might actually have to work for his keep as it looks like he'll be the 3rd WR. Life is so easy when you sit & sit & sit like Brissett is poised to do this year.

Dorsett played 1/3 of the snaps and was the #3 WR in half the games last year with hogan missing 7 and Amendola 1.

I think he'll have a lot more production this year as Brady actually is looking at him.

I think so too.
It’s going to be interesting to see what the roles of Dorsett and Patterson are going to be. Both are very dangerous in the open field.

Dorsett looked great, would be happy to be wrong on him. Just trouble buying in on a guy that’s done nothing 3 years so far, but very promising game last night.

Leave Jacoby alone

He caught 33 passes for 16 ypc in his second year. Thats certainly not doing nothing.

In what way did he have a solid season? By every metric he sucked.
And yet his QB rating and completion percentage was higher than John Elways career averages. For a guy who showed up the week of the first game of the season Brissett played well, if you think otherwise show me another QB who showed up the first week, started the second and performed as admirably as Brissett.

Seriously. You believe in what Volin is saying over everyone else denying it ? Volin ?
Not in Volin I just think it’s possible that a team would give up a second for Brissett. We spent a 3rd on him 2 years ago and he flashed some potential as a starter. I don’t see any reason why his value couldn’t have been raised to a second.

I mean SEA giving up a 2nd. They simply would not do that with Wilson as their QB.

With that said Brisket is still not worth a 2nd. Jimmy is 10x better than him.
Why not? We spend second round picks on players like Jordan Richards and Cyrus Jones do you not think Brissett is worth more to a football team than either of them?

Garoppolo is entering his 5th season so I would expect him to be better, but we got a early second for 8 weeks of Garopollo remaining under contract so a mid round second for 2 years of Brissett is not crazy. The Seahawks seem to have a lot of interest during the draft in a QB so there is something more going on with Wilson.

All depends on how good you think Brisket actually is and why a team with a young Qb that needs to rebuild everywhere would burn a 2nd on a benchwarmer

Doesn't add up.

That’s not my rationale at all. My rationale is that Brissett played poorly and is a major reason the team was bad, and those are lame excuses for his poor play.

So you didn’t say what you said then? What’s your criteria for Brissett playing poorly? He didn’t win and his stats were bad. I was just pointing out to you that your logic was again faulty in dismissing the contribution poor coaching, lack of skill payers to distribute the ball, and an abysmal OL played in those losses and bad stats.

Sorry buddy but that is just a stupid comment, and isn’t even close to what I said.
Drop the Belichick hate, it’s making you silly.

I’m touched by your concern. But, I’ll gladly run the risk of looking “silly” saying what I believe. Hate is way too strong of a word. Disappointed is closer to the truth. Disappointed that Bill Belichick let his own “agenda” get in the way of giving his team and ours their best chance to win the Super Bowl 7 months ago.

What I hate are your sweeping pronouncements like: “He ALWAYS does things in the best interest of the team. He has structure in EVERYTHING he does.” Those are just off the top of my head. It’s just too incessantly fawning.

You spend 20 hours a day perusing this site looking for any slight or criticism of your hero and swooping down like an avenging angel to attack any poster who has the temerity to question or criticize Belichick or simply hold and express an opinion contrary to yours.

I take a backseat to know one on this board when it comes to my fanship of the NEP. I don’t post here to cause trouble. I post to say what’s on my mind. To post my two cents knowing that often it’s not worth any more than that. I have a right to be angry and disappointed. I have a right to be chicken little one day and positively giddy the next. I’m just a fan saying what’s on my mind regarding my favorite sports team. If that ever makes me look silly, then so be it.

And you are of course wrong about that
What I hate are your sweeping pronouncements like: “He ALWAYS does things in the best interest of the team.
Because he does. It’s how he does his job. It’s ridiculous to think he would do something that isn’t best for the team.

It’s hoe he operates. Noting it is just stating a fact.

You know that’s a bunch of crap.

Same, but I see through the “oh poor me, I have to be pissed off at someone because I’m entitled to a Sb victory” attitude.
I appreciate having the best coach in the nfl and step in when I see you embarrass yourself with comments like you make.
If you want to be critical find a real reason instead of running around crying.

With that, I am just going to not respond to your posts any longer. I choose to stay in reality and not Poor Me The Entitled Fan Land.
