Pittsburgh...Merged ... Steelers /Tomlin Drama

I dont even care about the disagrees and whatnot but who with a straight face can say:

LIKE HE HAS ALL YEAR !!! ahahhaha
Exactly. He marginalizes the fact that the 6-10 49ers crushed the Jaguars due to turnovers and yet he also believes that he has played like one of the best QBs in the league all year.

To each his own, but I think this thought is borderline ridiculous. Jacksonville turned things around and earned the right to host (and likely win) their home game in the WC round this weekend.

That’s quite an accomplishment, but they’re still a 10-6 team who lost to the Titans twice, and needed two pick sixes to defeat PIT, where they barely crossed 200 yards of offense on the day until the very late run by Fournette at the end of the game. People are buying into this mediocre team way too much. I’d rather play them twice over playing Pittsburgh again.

What I mean is they have the type of D that could most certainly shut Brady down.

True, they have a good defense, but could they score any points?

Meanwhile Pittsburgh has a veteran QB (love him or hate him) and a fleet of fast receivers. Tend to agree with supafly.

Not to mention that PIT has some defensive players, too. After all, they held our high powered offense to 16 points through the first 56-57 minutes of the game.

I’m not overstating them, but they played some decent defense at times and that was without Haden, who will be an upgrade to the rookie they used. They used a fairly successful M2M scheme and have the horses to get to the QB just as much as Jacksonville, although they do it in a different way.

Based on the game a few weeks ago I feel pretty secure in predicting that BB will outcoach Tomlin.

True, although that’s a different subject altogether.

I was discussing the fact that PIT is a more well rounded team than JAX, and that their defense has the capacity to slow us down and get to the QB just like the Jags do.

If they could not shut down the 49ers they will not be able to shut down our offense.

I have a really hard time seeing Roethlisberger coming into Foxborough and going out with a win. His road splits have been terrible for at least 3 years, and the Patriots are in his head-e.g.his “like trying to beat your big brother” comments after last season’s AFCCG.

I als think Pittsburgh showed their hand in Pittsburgh, especially on defense, while the Patriots played a really vanilla game.

I don't think their defense can stop us if Brady has time. We need our weapons back especially hogan. I still feel they could take us out if they play keep away and eat clock.

I tend to side with Ivan’s thinking that a guy like Tomlin would put it all on the line last month, showing much more than Belichick would, which is ironic considering that Tomlin was the one predicting a two part matchup. Hopefully, we are able to create some mismatches versus another assumed M2M scheme, and have some of our injured players back like Hogan. If that’s the case and we can get the running game going too, You’ve got to like our chances. The areas where I’m more reserved are the facts that their defense held us better than I expected aside from that last drive, that Brown will be playing, and that even though we’d likely beat them in 8/10 matchups, you just never know how the ball is going to bounce that day, as well as injuries, weather, etc.

By the way my kid is a traitor and now likes the Patriots. How does that happen growing up in a Steelers house :( Where did I go wrong? haha
The Pats are superior in every way. Have been for nearly two decades. Your child is smart and understands a winning mentality. Good for him and thanks!

Me too, in addition to with the single exception of the final call of the game - every break went their way. They made every broken play, every perfect throw, every tough catch...and still lost.

Pittsburgh put up their very best game in all three phases while the Pats didn't ...and still no W at home - and I think deep down, they know it too.

You guys who think that Blake Bortles is beating Tom Brady in the AFC Championship Game at Gillette friggin' Stadium need to lay off the stuff. Come on now.

Dragging a 2 week old thread out. Blake Bortles isn't defending TB12, the Jags nasty defensive line and secondary are. Dropping 45 on the Squeelies they showed they can also keep up in a shootout.

Patriots got handled by a bad Miami team.
Patriots playoff losses are mostly to teams like

Ravens/Giants/Jets/Broncos

which were defense based teams.

Agree totally. We will take them out, but they will be the best team we have played all year. Won’t be easy.

Thanks. One of the posters that I was responding to basically believes that we should be scared out of our wits to play Jacksonville.Do they remind you of the Ravens/Giants/Jets/Broncos? Maybe... They are a fine team and deserve to be respected however I like our overall track record.

That poster also clicked "disagree" when I pointed out that the 49ers defeated the Jaguars. We can always debate statistics and their meaning however there is no debate regarding the final score of a game that has already been played.

The Patriots should be favored, but people here are doing what people here always do, which is to completely dismiss the opponent. The Jags thrive on defensive pressure and turnovers. Does anyone here really think that the Patriots OL has been impenetrable this year? Does anyone here really not remember the Patriots turning the ball over in the month of December?

Having the negative options with the up/down stuff encourages laziness and stupidity on the part of those take any sort of issue with another person's posts.

Some people are dismissing the Jaguars because of Bortles. He can be erratic but dismissing him is a recipe for disaster.
