Pittsburgh...Merged ... Steelers /Tomlin Drama

I'm sorry to say that I dislike the Steelers and (almost all of) their fans.

That said, I do think that Pats fans tend to underestimate them because they look at the organization through Patriots lenses and because, in the past, the Pats have had the better of it when it mattered. Of course, Tomlin doesn't have a quarter of the football brain that Belichick does. But the Steelers organization isn't as centred on the coach as the Pats are. They have an excellent GM and (though it pains me to say it) a very good OC. And they have a very consistent long-term team-building policy: keep bringing young players through, don't be big spenders in free agency, don't eliminate developmental spots with special teamers, when in doubt draft a linebacker.

They're a very effective organization -- so they assume that, when they lose, it's because the opponent cheated. Oh, our headsets aren't working (how unusual is that, by the way?) it must be the dastardly Patriots (Tomlin). How dare they shift their d-line in goal line defense (Roethlisberger)? And so on. So much entitlement -- they're The Squealers indeed.

This. Jags are a worse matchup for the Patriots than Pittsburgh.
To each his own, but I think this thought is borderline ridiculous. Jacksonville turned things around and earned the right to host (and likely win) their home game in the WC round this weekend.

That’s quite an accomplishment, but they’re still a 10-6 team who lost to the Titans twice, and needed two pick sixes to defeat PIT, where they barely crossed 200 yards of offense on the day until the very late run by Fournette at the end of the game. People are buying into this mediocre team way too much. I’d rather play them twice over playing Pittsburgh again.

Sorry but I am more scared of Roethelisberger than Bortles.

As is everyone, but Pittsburgh's defense isn't in the same hemisphere as the Jaguars'. The Jags have two of the NFL's best bookend rushers, two guys they can plug inside to rush the A and B-gaps (depending on what technique they're playing), a LB that can run with RBs east to west, and two elite outside CBs. That's a team that can travel. Their downfall will eventually be Bortles and he is the reason why I'm confident that they are not a team that can come to Gillette and win.

Did Shanahan and Jimmy G give the blueprint for carving up the Jaguars D?

Getting a team when it's fat and sassy and not exhibiting a whole lot of effort on the defensive side of the ball until it's too late is the key to beating anyone.

You guys who think that Blake Bortles is beating Tom Brady in the AFC Championship Game at Gillette friggin' Stadium need to lay off the stuff. Come on now.

i would like to agree w/ you, but one Mark Sanchez has beat us in the playoffs so...i dont underestimate excellent D

Try watching a game that doesn't include the Patriots. You look like a complete fool right now.

Blake Bortles is not in the top 10 in any statistical category except for INTs and times sacked per drop back.

He is your classic caretaker/checkdown QB.

Do you really think he can come into Foxboro and go 25/32 300yds and 3TDs because that is what it will take.

ahhahaahaha

You are saying the QB who on his best day is average and on his average day is among the worst in the league played great this season and I am the one looking like a fool right now.

Oh boy what are you smoking?

I agree that getting pressure on Brady while rushing 3-4 is the Pats kryptonite, but this year’s team can actually run the ball. 2007 team did not have Gronk or a great receiving RB. 2010 team did, but there was a lot that didn’t go right or make sense in that game.

Law firm was our lead back in 2010. In other words, our running game now is light years ahead of what it was then.

Jacksonville has a great pass defense... they're not quite as great stopping the run though. Their run defense is bottom third in the NFL. I think Shady McCoy and Taylor could give them a problem IF McCoy is healthy.

That 2010 team was a lot better IMO. Our offense that year was one of the best offenses in NFL history and statistically our defense that year was better than this current defense.

Noboyd foresaw us losing to the Jets.

Our defense got a lot of INTs in 2010. They weren't really that good at anything else IMO. If Mark Sanchez and the Jets beat Peyton @ IND there was no reason why they couldn't come to Gillette and beat us too.

@dafoe2016 what is there to disagree with here? I'll break it down sentence by sentence and let me know where the disagreement is...

The poster you are addressing went through this thread and marked everyone he disagreed with. Facts be damned.

He "disagreed" with the FACT that the 49ers defeated the Jaguars. Must have an agenda.

I dont even care about the disagrees and whatnot but who with a straight face can say:

If Bortles goes back to being Bortles, all bets are off. But if he comes into New England and plays like one of the best QBs in the league, like he has all year, they have a chance of beating us

LIKE HE HAS ALL YEAR !!! ahahhaha
