Giants, Colts, Lions seek permission to Interview McDaniels and/or Patricia

Giants yes.
Lions about the same.
Giants could be debatable, but should likely land a QB of his choice in the draft. Which could be a big plus for him.

Give me the Lions roster over Indy’s. Also I really feel that Stafford could have a Matt Ryan 2016 type season if he gets a defense.

Really big issue with Indy in terms of their roster is the uncertainty of Andrew Luck.

Looks like Horse Face likes having a yes man as his coach:

If I’m McDaniels, I would make Detroit the top destination.

He would have a lot to work with on offense, and has NE ties with Bob Quinn.

Detroit needs to fill out the defense a bit, find a running game, and they could really have something.

Indy already has luck.

Indy with a healthy luck would have made TE playoffs this year. Detroit with Staffird would have looked like Indy.

Luck says he is 100% now. Of course that’s THE attraction of the job so if not it make a difference.

I'll feel better when other people other then our assistants get hired and it would suck for us but he Great for Flores if both he and Patricia get HC gigs and we are promoting who to DC then?

Detroit wants to keep their offensive staff (Bob Cooter & co) in tact which most probably would be a bigger issue for McDaniels than Patricia. If a coordinator leaves for a HC job he usually taps some of the lower level coordinators from his previous job to work with him to run his system.

I can’t believe anything with the Luck situation until I actually see him go out and play. I’ve heard it too many times before.

Also, I don’t think Indy would’ve been a playoff team even with Luck. Brissett being competent was what made them look more competitive. Don’t forget how awful they looked when Tolzien was at QB to start out.

Would’ve been another 7-8 win campaign like last year.

And Brian Flores

I don' think most here are aware that Flores can be "that dude" for us. It would really suck if he left. And def would hurt if Matt left as well.

So smart. Huge background to draw from. Every clip I've ever seen indicates hes a worker. Poised but intense.

First name I threw out and made me confident we'd be ok if Matt leaves.

If both are gone (which is unlikely but still possible) it most probably means BB running the show on defense. Which is less optimal than it sounds because I would prefer his thoughts focused on the macro level of situational football and not absorbed by the needs of the defense.

I have a feeling it'll be like 2004 over again. We win 3 in 4 years, both coordinators exit.
Storybook ending to MC and MP's Pats careers. Will suck for next year though

You wanting to believe it has nothing to do with where his health is. He had shoulder surgery. They didn’t rush him back and by the time he would have been ready the season was lost for he colts.

Brissett was terrible.

The lions won 9. It would have been 7 if Rodgers didn’t get injured. Wins against Rodgersless pack (2) hapless bears (2)
the 2 worst teams in the NFL (2) and the woeful bucs are 7 of their 9 wins.

They were a long time contender before grigson and he is gone. You don’t not take a job because a poor gym worked there once.

Yeah we disagree. Eli is cooked. Obj will not last under a strong coach acting like he does and expecting to be the highest paid player in the NFL. Not sure what rb you are looking at and the whole defense was awful.

To me, apparently ownership, they are a total rebuild.

But you said go to the giants because they hav a higher pick. It’s 2 and Indy is 4 or 5 and they have a franchise QB.
Detroit is now being run by Quinn who obviously knows what he is doing. The giants are being run by the guy Carolina fired.

That was Grigson. Ballard is actually a pretty good GM and if you believe what Curran and others are writing someone they think McD could work well with.

A new GM that is known to be pretty strong minded, an ownership that just puked over themselves when it came to handle their long term QB & coaching and a locker room where player call themselves out as cancers or just announce that they dont want to play that week so they can start vacations early.

That does no sound like a great place.. Indy is a much better place than that if Luck can come back to actually play the game..

You have good ownership that unlike others (*cough* Bengals) is fine with spending money, a more than competent QB and finally a GM that came out of the Pats system. It is the ideal place to be for Patricia.

Fair points made by both of you. That being said. Just a question for both. Which ownership group do you think is best

Out of the 32 ? Or just out of the open positions ?

I know you think the giants are but I don’t know why.
Sure irsay is a train wreck in his personal life but he stays away. Mara sticks his nose into things then throws the coach under the bus.

Irsay wasn’t an issue when he had dungy and even with pagano/grigson they had success when luck was healthy.
The giants aside from the parcells years and some of the coughlin years have never impressed.

In other words good coaches do well in either place and bad coach’s dont.

What's the Bears situation like? Looks like an interesting spot for McDaniels.

These teams are conducting a raid on our coaching staff. Thirsty! Anything to try and slow down the freight train.

...all depends on how good JMD thinks Trubisky is.

Maybe I’m looking too much into the giants having a much better history than both teams? They just seem to have more success. I don’t know

Lions seem snake bitten almost.

Side note I think the colts success in the luck Years was nearly all luck. Although I never thought pagano was as bad as others here seem to think

Giants colts and lions

In terms of ownership:

Lions > Colts > Giants

How Mara let McAddoo run that asylum and ducked away from the entire Eli situation has way too many red flags about the Giants. Hell, remember how Coughlin refused to shake his hand after the resignation press conference ?
