The thing is that, with most HC candidates, they're trying to convince the team to hire them. With McD and MP, it's the teams trying to convince them to come work there.

I'm frankly not at all certain that MP is even interested.

McD might take another HC gig, but I think he'll demand some significant authority wrt buying the groceries. He might get that in DET, but probably not with the Gints.

Former Patriots Director of Pro Scouting Bob Quinn is now the GM in Detroit, so there is familiarity with the system.

However, I found it interesting that the Lions ONLY requested to speak with Patricia, not Josh. Ditto the Colts. I wonder if teams suspect Josh will succeed Belichick

Or the Bears and Colts job is more attractive.

You think matt Patricia has no interest in being a hc? Really?

Patricia is Detroit or Giant bound.
I'll put my money on Detroit.
Josh is either taking the Colts or Bears job or staying.
Giants is a dark horse.
I am scare to see this team no Brady no offensive Mastermind no successor.
Unless we are looking at young Belichick.

Or more likely McD’s failed stint in denver...

No brady?
We will promote from within. The system is as much or more B.B. and Brady as it is josh.

Colts have requested mcd.
Lions want to add defensive coach and keep current offensive staff.

Colts gig would be cool, if it wasn't for the crackhead owner and the meth cooking fans.

Irsay is a crackhead who says stupid things occasionally to the media but he doesn't really interfere with the football operation or fire coaches without giving them a chance, he gave Chuck Pagano 6 years which was 2 years more than he should have. I'm guessing the Colts want an offensive guy to get rid of this crazy where it's deep routes all over and the QBs are getting murdered which explains why Patricia isn't being interviewed.

The Giants might but probably won't hire either of the Pats guys, they will probably go with Wilks from the Panthers who has ties to the new GM Gettleman.

If i'm McDaniels/Patricia i wan't the Giants/Colts or Lions job, the Giants are historically the best franchise needing a coach right nowand have good ownership and the other 2 have a decent QB under 30.

Every other job has massive quarterback question marks and especially McDaniels can't afford another QB disaster.

It could be. I don't see it that way, but I'm sure some in the league do.

Every new coach is going to make mistakes. That's what being a rookie is about. It's similar for coaches as for players. So do you get a potential new guy and live with the mistakes and hope he improves, like say Mitchell Trubisky? Or do you hope the previous experience, no matter how ugly, helps them be more prepared, like Jared Goff?

I'd certainly want to ask Josh about what he learned during his time in Denver, but I wouldn't disqualify him for it, and it could be a benefit if he's learned quite a bit from that time.

But that's just how I see it when we're hiring at our place. I'm sure others have many other opinions.

I really want Patricia to stick around. I would rather lose McD than Patricia.

That’s a tough call who you’d rather have...I know brady would want McD to stay. How ironic would it be if BOB returns as the OC?

I haven't seen the Colts actually make a formal request yet for McDaniels.

This article from Rapoport a few days ago said the Colts expected to interview McDaniels:

Report: Colts expected to interview Josh McDaniels, Matt Nagy, Dave Toub
This article from ESPN says only Patricia.

But this article talks about the actual requests made, and it says only Patricia.

The Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts have also requested permission to interview Patricia, sources tell Schefter.

Sources: Giants to interview Patriots' OC, DC

A formal request may be coming for McDaniels, or maybe you've seen a different source, but just going off what I've seen so far.

Edit: Just saw the tweet, thanks guys.

@AdamSchefter: Colts have requested permission to interview Patriots OC Josh McDaniels for their HC job, per league source.
