some insight on Harrison role today by Reiss:

During practice this past week, veteran OLB James Harrison saw his most extensive work in the base defense on the end of the line of scrimmage. That makes sense because it is most familiar to what he has known from his time in Pittsburgh (3-4 outside linebacker), and also because that has been a troublesome spot for the Patriots this season against the run. So as for how much Harrison plays in the regular-season finale against the Jets, a lot will depend on how often the Jets have lead-blocking fullback Lawrence Thomas on the field, or go big with multiple tight ends, because that's when Harrison will have the best chance of being on the field. He could be tapped occasionally in a sub package as a pass-rusher, but at least initially, the Patriots are viewing his primary value as an edge setter against the run.
___

expect a ton of “he can't rush the passer“ posts in pre & post game threads..

and words on Brady-Britt interception by the “source“ itself:
(id guess Reiss kept this in his notebook while posting that comparison film w Floyd)

There has been plenty of discussion about Brady's six interceptions in the last five games -- an unusually high total for him -- and one lingering question was what happened last Sunday on his pick-six by Bills safety Jordan Poyer that was intended for receiver Kenny Britt. CBS analyst Tony Romo said it looked like Brady didn't see Poyer, and was maybe fooled by the defensive coverage, but my viewpoint of the play was altered after talking with Britt. He said his route needed to be sharper, and it would have been had he seen Poyer himself. By not running a sharper route, Britt helped open the door for Poyer to make the play.

You nailed it.

BTW - Rap says Rams will not only rest Gurley and Goff but bigger portion of starters across the roster which means SF are likely to go 6-10 which would mean Jimmy takes down Pats 2nd pick from #34 to #41 (while staying unbeaten as a starter in NFL)

Pretty stand up for Britt to take ownership of running a crappy route

After listening to Brady in the post game conference and then rewatching the scene a few times I change my opinion from bad Brady throw/great Poyer move to miscommunication/great Poyer move.

The way Britt drifted up instead of staying on that in-cut and Brady's ball placement was a give away for that.

White out as well. Its (hopefully) bubble boy Bolden time..

expect an almost big catch, an almost big TD and a few solid runs from BB jr
____

EDIT:

that makes: Branch (i), Burkhead (i), Gillislee (i), Hogan (i) and White (i) out.
Lets see if they keep KVN and Slater out to heal as well..

looks like the pats are going to play it cautious with anyone who is nursing an injury. no use having someone like hogan/white tweak it and miss the divisional round.

I wonder if van noy will play today in a limited role.

OT

quite a few people here loved this boy pre-draft (was linked to Pats quite a lot in the early stages) so if someone wants to take a look..

imagine how different this team could look in 2 weeks in the divisional round if burkhead, white, hogan, mitchell return to the lineup. like a whole different offense.

This offense will have two guys with a lot of rust come the playoffs. Hogan and Mitchell.

have to wonder how rusty Hogan is going to be...

He’s been practicing for weeks. I don’t think that rust will be an issue. Should be a big help in the red zone.

Yep.

What is abundently clear is BB believes health in the playoffs is more important than shaking off rust.
