If a trade was to be made...

People have been surprisingly high on Valentine. I feel like he's only marginally better than Brown, and also inconsistent. Even if he came back, i doubt our unit would look too different.
This is a funny post!

If Valentine is "only marginally better' than Brown, then he should be activated as quickly as possible. Brown STARTS for us.

Just BTW, a healthy Valentine would likely be starting at NT. Hopefully, he will fully healthy for 2018.

Joe Thomas

Browns are a dumpster fire right now and Thomas is getting older. Would be great for us for the next few years and I'd think we could get him for a 3rd.
Apparently they turned down Denver's 1st for Thomas back in 2015. I would hope & expect that price tag to be lower now that Thomas is 2 years older, but who knows.

I'm mostly dreaming but I wonder if Cleveland would take Solder + a 4-5th.

Vinnie's not at all better than Brown, but he is inconsistent, that's true.

I would love that, but there's a small issue of him having $6M in base salary left on his cap hit this season. Trading for him would immediately put the Pats over the cap, although by less than a million dollars.

Jimmy G for Mallet and a 6th rounder

At this point I would be more surprised if the Pats don't make a trade in the next couple weeks than if they do. Bill loves to pick up a potentially solid role player or draft disappointment from other team at this point in the year.

A few random guesses for guys that I would assume would be in BB's wheelhouse:

Arik Armstead from SF. Been somewhat of a disappointment for a high pick and drafted by a previous regime who took another D-lineman high in the draft this April. Bill loves those "change of scenery" guys on rookie contracts.

Aaron Lynch from SF. Been a solid role player on the edge his whole career and may get traded with all the new faces on the D line in San Francisco.

Adrian Clayborn from ATL. Solid veteran but maybe a little too pricey. Solid edge guy but the Falcons drafted McKinnley and Vic Beasley is coming back from the hamstring so he may be the odd man out.

Richard Rogers from GB. Didn't think we would need another TE coming into the year but with Gronk's injury history and the complete ineptitude of Dwayne Allen I would be surprised if the Patriots aren't calling around. Our old friend Marty may have pushed Rodgers to the trade block.

Long shot/wish list guys:

Joe Thomas. I think every Pats fan has hoped/thought this one would happen at some point. After the Browns fire sales in recent years I feel like it would've happened already if it was going to.

Cameron Wake. Always liked Wake in Miami and looks like he still has something left in the tank. With that said he is making good money and the Phins would catch a ton of heat trading him in the division especially to us.

Larry Fitzgerald. Don't necessarily need a WR and he's getting up there but the Cards look like a dumpster fire again and will be rebuilding in all likelihood so he may want out.

Very sobering thought to all this speculation is that we are about $5 million under the salary cap.. so need to do anything wisely. Thomas, Fitzgerald et al might be a tad rich for this team..

NYG CB DR Cromartie suspended indefinitely according to NFLPA CBA he can be out a total of 4 games.

McAdoo is rapidly losing his locker room with 0-5 start throw in CB Apple unhappy with Coach McAdoo as well and with O'Beckham & Marshall & Davis all on IR won't hurt if BB looks into Cromartie ( if monies etc fit) especially now with Rowe's uncertain injury status.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Suspended "Indefinitely"; Donte Deayon Promoted

Mixed feelings on this

It might be a good time for it with Solder becoming a free agent

I'm kinda doubtful that Mara would make a deal with BB.
