Alot of good info on here for day 1. Thanks again for all that contributed in keeping patfans updated!! Sixteen pages is quite a lot, I'll lock this thread in the morning and we can start a new thread for day 2.

Sorry....

Can you blame us though? The info branched into spontaneous discussion. Another sign football is back!

Harmon can't cover like a cornerback. That's all. No beef with Harmon. I love the guy and what he does for us.
Sure he can. Not like a great cb, but he's got some coverage skills. He covers well as a safety- but I wouldn't want him playing cb.

If/when that happens, WTF do you think this f###### place is gonna look like? 75% will be gone with the prevailing wind...and that's conservative. And many of them will be the people who dominate seemingly every thread here.
I don't doubt it.

First player to have a return TD, rushing TD and receiving TD in a playoff game not good enough for ya? Yeesh.

And he did all that w/o his old explosiveness-thats what I'm hoping to see this year.

Let me put it this way. I'd rather have Tavon Wilson playing cornerback than Duron Harmon. Wilson was actually pretty serviceable covering tight ends.

That was point about the Pats big nickel: their best 5 dbs are Butler Gilmore Dmac chung and Harmon. That gives them great flexibility-stout vs. run but can stop everything in passing game because both Dmac and Harmon have some coverage skills.

I know it's hard to gauge offensive and defensive line production in camp without pads, but any word on Malcolm Brown? He had a very conspicuous sophomore drop off from the very high level with which he finished his rookie season. I'm hoping for a bounce back season from that guy. He's too smart and high character to fail in this league or even to be just average.

Same here. I don't know if Albert was engaging in revisionist history or drinking early.

I thought the Steelers sensed their offer would be shopped around, including with NE, so they didn't make an offer.

Regards,
Chris

Yeah, that could very well be. But, I don't ever remember things going down between Hightower and both the Steelers and Jets the way Breer described today. Of course, neither BoZo nor Bertrand questioned him or asked for any sort of clarification.

I hadn't heard of it either. I did hear about the Cupcakes.

Found this on Google.

Dont’a Hightower physical gave Jets concerns

I couldn't get a gauge on his play last year. Did he really get worse? I know at some point he was temporarily benched.

This is the time of year I have mini panic attacks every time I load these forums or NFL.com for fear of seeing a post about a player getting injured

I wouldn't say he was bad. It was more that he just didn't seem to have the kind of impact he had down the stretch during his rookie season . . . at least not very consistently. In fact, the only real standout play all season that comes to mind was the safety against Baltimore on Monday Night Football. I'm not saying it's the only play he made, of course. But it is the one that immediately jumps out at me and definitely the only one I can think of at this moment. And he was mostly a non-factor in each of the playoff games they played, and that's where I really look for guys to shine, especially first-rounders. Remember how big (no pun intended) Vince was in the playoffs. I particularly remember the game against Baltimore in 2011 when he made Birk, who was still pretty good at the time, his b*tch. That's what I hope we can get with Brown if he sticks around a while. Good thing Branch had such an amazing season in 2016.

I really like him and all word from Pats coaches and players is that he is wise beyond his years and a great locker room presence. That's the kind of guy I can't help but cheer for and wish him well. We'll see when the pads come on.

You must live with women.

:p
A wife, a daughter, and even a female cat for the longest time... finally got another little dude (my son) in the house 6 months ago! Speaking of which, I gotta get some Brady onesies ASAP!!

FYI all, I have now read this whole thread. Can I leave the dog house now?
