USA Today predicts Patriots go undefeated

I don't wish the the added pressure of an undefeated season, but it's an obvious goal of theirs. Look at their actions:

2007-Full throttle all the way through.

2011-They were definitely looking to make it happen in 2011 until the Buffalo game. They lost that game by being overly aggressive. They scaled things back heavily the following week against Oakland knowing they had a chance to reboot with a long season ahead of them.

2015- They gave it a serious run in 15 as well, and said "To hell with the regular season" after they lost in Denver. Their priorities switched from winning every game to maximum health. The results were debatable.

This is why I would not mind an early loss. It seems to bode well for them. With all of this being said, if they even get to 7-0 I will get sucked into it quite easily.

Yea its obvious their going for it again this season by how stacked we are, we have the best team we had so far imo

Every year I wish the jets go 6-10. Cant let them draft a difference maker. They might eventually get one.
Not to worry. Every time they come close they ruin him.

If they go 16-0, they need that 19-0. If they fail again, we will never hear the end of it.

I am predicting 15-1 though with a L to either Denver or Miami. 15-1 would still be great imo.

The biggest takeaways I have with this offseason...

1. Making sure we have depth at every position for obvious reasons.
2. Upgrading team speed/athleticism which is punctuated by the additions of Cooks/Gilmore/Ealy/Rivers.

On paper, this might be the best team we've ever had. Time will tell.

I'm not predicting anything more than a competitive season with another hopefully deep playoff run. Obviously, anything less than a division title would be an enormous disappointment, but this kind of 19-0 talk just puts more pressure on everyone. It's never been done.

Last year they predicted the Pats would go 12–4.

They predicted 16–0 this year, so I guess that means 18–(–2) confirmed. ;)

...not going there
Glad that guys like Edelman and McCourty are there to keep the team focused and "ignore the noise."

They need to win the division, try and secure a bye, then HFA. Same as every year. If they happen to be in a situation where they start 13-0, 14-0 or something like that, then the discussion becomes relevant.

Wouldn't be enough to derail Brady as the GOAT, but it would be a meme for a long time.
It's still a meme from last time, lol.

Going 18-0 only to lose the final game again would be devastating.

Just a fantasy here, but if we truly go 19-0 do you think the hate for our 18-1 would lose any substance? I feel 19-0 shuts up those people. Heck, I think our 4th and 5th ring already did. A 6th? Just so juicy.

The Pats are not going 19-0. nor are they going 16-0 regular season. There are two almost certain losses on the regular season schedule and the playoffs are always a crapshoot. USA Today employs a troll army of sports writers that pump out "hot takes" on a daily basis. You should only read USA Today when you're in some 3rd world ****in' backwater hellhole waiting for a bi-plane and need to pass some time.

I don't see how losing the SB would be more devastating coming in undefeated than coming in with 3-4 losses. A lost SB is a lost SB.
