Curran conitnues to perplex. Stephen is a much bigger loss for the defense than Bill. Curran can say this within the confines of New England, I suppose, but he would become a national laughingstock if he tried to say this on, for example, ESPN.

Word that the Patriots were adding Alonzo Highsmith to their personnel department came in February, but the team didn't get around to officially announcing his title until Tuesday.

Now local sports writers can dig up all the old Larry Fitgerald commentary, replace his name with Tee Higgins, publish a new column and have plenty of time for 18 holes.

The deadline passed on the Cincinnati Bengals being able to extend receiver Tee Higgins, which will now see him head into next offseason as a free agent. Should the Patriots be able to make progress and appear to be a team on the rise, the club will have the financial means to make a run and they may be a more attractive landing spot than they were this past March. Based on the reports, that was an issue, so the hope will be that the Patriots will be able to change that perception this season.​

That’s the best approach to Higgins. Don’t give up draft picks, sign him as a free agent. Although I’m not sure I want to give him WR 1 $$$. $25 million ok, 30 + nope.
