Brady isn't being let go just for the sake of getting him off the roster "a year too early".
I highly doubt that either Belichick or Brady would ever allow something like that to happen.Well when Brady comes into town as the Broncos starting QB...I won't know how to feel really.
People are suggesting exactly that. They believe belichick should dump Brady to keep jimmy.I highly doubt that either Belichick or Brady would ever allow something like that to happen.
If all you want is an above average QB and you trust BBs judgment why wouldn't you believe he will replace the GOAT with a different above average QB when it's time? This is a silly thread. It's not an either/or choice. I can appreciate what Brady did for the team and the city. But I can also support what is best for the team. I was a fan of the Patriots long before Brady came around and will be long after he is gone. That doesn't mean I'm not a Brady fan. it just means my primary loyalty is to the Patriots, not any one guy. It's the same reason some people can talk themselves into rooting for players who are bad human beings.
If you are calling for Jimmy to replace Brady because Tom is old and you watched Jimmy play a couple of impressive games, with all due respect, you are a bit nutty. And while it would be scary to not have that security blanket under center if Bill honestly believes that JG can be an above average QB for the next 10-15 years, I trust his judgement. Look at his track record. I would rather have an above average QB for 10-15 years than a GOAT for 1-5 and then nothing. Look no further than our own division. It is really hard to get an above average QB and it is very difficult to win a title without one in today's game. Look at our division. There hasn't been an elite QB on the any of the other AFC East teams since Marino and Kelly. It has been a never ending stream of garbage for decades. I do not want to see the Patriots turn into that.

The guy above said he would rather have 10 years of above average than 5 years of the GOAT. think about that if we said that 5 years ago we would be out 2 rings. Craziness has overtaken the fan base.
It is also a function of payroll/salary cap. In the "year too early" cases, we see one situation after another of guys negotiating a new deal or at the point of an old deal where the cap number has gotten too high. The year too early > year too late thing only applies if you are 100% certain you have a viable replacement ready to go immediately. Belichick won't have terribly much say in the matter if he does what a lot of people in here seem to want; i.e. let Brady go "a year too early" in favor of keeping Garoppolo.I highly doubt that either Belichick or Brady would ever allow something like that to happen.
1) You don't know thatfirst off, its not "5 years of the GOAT" ...we arent dumping a 27yr old Brady for Jimmy here.
face facts, he's 40...father time is undefeated. Even if he plays to 45, years 43, 44, 45 are going to be shadows of his peak.
Yo could have said the same thing when he was 35 and where would that have put you?first off, its not "5 years of the GOAT" ...we arent dumping a 27yr old Brady for Jimmy here.

Agreed. I've been here a long time. Stick with Brady! I don't even care if he has a bad year sometime in the future. In fact, a bad year is probably what it will take for him to face father time and hang them up. I don't think Brady will ever play for another team. If he did, I'm not sure I could watch. If all you want is an above average QB and you trust BBs judgment why wouldn't you believe he will replace the GOAT with a different above average QB when it's time?
You say you trust his judgment then imply he will put the worst QB in the world out there if it isn't jimmy.
5 years of Brady is better than the careers of almost any active NFL QB.
And you think Tom Brady would go to a long time rival like the Denver Broncos?Belichick won't have terribly much say in the matter if he does what a lot of people in here seem to want; i.e. let Brady go "a year too early" in favor of keeping Garoppolo.
Belichick has complete control over all things Patriot, but he can't exactly dictate to a UFA where they are forbidden from signing.
And you think Tom Brady would go to a long time rival like the Denver Broncos?
I'm having a hard time with that one. Probably much more likely that he'd play another 2-3 yrs and simply retire.
Yes, a team like that could possibly be an option, but I'd have an extremely difficult time imagining him in some "I'm going to stick it to the fans and organization in NE" scenario, by choosing to play for a major rival.about the only team i can see him on is the 49ers. fulfill the dream of playing for your favorite team growing up
I don't think Brady sees teams and rivals the way we fans do. I don't think he has any animosity or illwill towards any of the other 31. They are merely opponents to be conquered; it's nothing personal, only business. And you think Tom Brady would go to a long time rival like the Denver Broncos?
Agreed -- a pointless premise that has been ruminated impressively. During the season this would be Practice Squad Forum fare.Trolling at its finest. Good job. Over 400 replies and 7K views. Outstanding work.
