In 1997 when we got picks from the Jets for Parcells there was a usenet troll who kept saying "Curtis Martin is our #1 pick" and it drove me crazy then. ****ing Bob Jensen. A true master.
So it's kind of nails on chalkboard to see the Pats doing the same thing, but that's just on twitter and is about keeping fan interest going, etc.
At the same time, I think you grade the Patriots on what they did with all their picks not just the players they selected. And in both instances I'm very happy. The F grade is just to trigger you.
The List of General Managers who have won 5 SuperBowls:
Bill Belichick
Maybe, just maybe Felger, he might know a little bit more about managing a draft and salary cap than you do.
Felger's been right on the cap. The cap is crap, in the sense that it can be easily maneuvered around, particularly in an era of large cap increases. Belichick acknowledged it, in his own way. What gets people's panties in a twist is that they don't like the way Felger's phrased it.
The way he phrased it was that Belichick was mismanaging by being too cap-conscious. For years, he was criticizing BB's management of it.
Now he is making hay out of giving BB an "F" for this draft.
History and I will take Belichick's side in this.
His only mission in life is to stir up trouble to get people to listen in (and call in to his show to argue with him). I think I actually heard him chuckling to himself all the time when I actually listened (probably thinking about the fact that he makes the big bucks arguing with these losers all day). I used to find him entertaining (and probably would enjoy this rant if I heard it), but the schtick gets old. Listen for the pure entertainment value if it amuses you, otherwise turn it off. Felger doesn't believe what he says. He picks a contrarian position and runs with it. That's his job and he's good at it.Ok,,,,as most of you all know,,i am from Bahrain,,,an Island Kingdom in the Middle East right next to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia . So being so far away from Boston i need to ask this question about Mike Felger ,,,,,,does he hate the Patriots and Bill Belichick ?
I cannot understand his rant nor why he gives the Pats a grade F for the Draft ??!!!
Am i missing something here ? He makes that idiot Tanguay look Great now !
Apologies for my ignorance of Boston media and their ways .
Sorry but i am confused why anyone would question BB ,,especially after just winning our Fifth Super Bowl.
Thankyou.

I may be the rare exception, but I find their show very funny and entertaining, EXCEPT when they bash the Patriots. So I think lots of people listen because they think the show is funny and good, but do not like when the bash the Pats, call them cheaters (F'ing yesterday he said "stop cheating" if you want draft picks the idiot)The reason is that there are a lot of people in the world who get a legitimate endorphin rush from being outraged. They enjoy hearing outrageous opinions so that they can get all riled up because it engages their own pleasure centers.
5 Ways To Stay Sane In An Era Of Non-Stop Outrage
Hey, you know what happens when you read something really enraging on the internet? You get a hit of dopamine. And even though it's a "bad" feeling, you immediately want to feel it again, because anything is better than being bored. Well, people who know how to manipulate this mechanism rule the world. Here's what you need to know now
The Jets and Saints are among teams that have recently had legit cap mismanagement issues that have lowered the competitiveness of their team.
I don't think Felger's "cap is crap" phrase is nuanced enough to capture the truth of what you're saying - "someone who is competent, dispassionate and attentive to the details of the cap can manage to maintain a competitive roster year after year" as well as the actual things that have happened with teams like above.
Even in the era of a big cap increase, the Texans had to give away a 2nd round pick to get out from Osweiler's contract. If the cap were truly crap, they could've kept their 2nd and taken the big dead money hit to just cut Osweiler free.
Cap is crap was a phrase that caught on. It wasn't the end all/be all of his position. And your Texans argument makes no sense. Cutting a player has consequences. That's not the same thing as "cap is crap".
...salary cap consequences.
His argument is you can't fully include those players we traded picks for because they have less years left on their contracts. As an independent statement, that's correct. What he fails to say, though, is we know these guys can play. Cooks, Ealy, Allen, Gillislee are proven NFL players. They may have less years on their contracts but they won't be total busts like so many draft picks will be.
Yes, but not such as you were claiming. You're trying too hard, and making a terrible comparison as a result. Go take a look at the Texans' cap space.
