Sherman is amazing, much better than the diminutive butler. Try hard guy but limited.

Malcolm Butler right now is a better cb than Sherman.

Malcolm is faster, quicker,tougher and a better tackler. Sherman cannot cover antonio brown, je11, cooks or any other quick smaller wr. he is still one of the best in the nfl but i just cant believe how many of you undervalue Butler.

Lets get this straight: BB does not value Gilmore over butler. There are economics involved. Gilmore is under control by the pats, malcolm could walk next year. Ill bet the farm that if butler is an ufa next year-he will get a BIGGER contract than gilmore. And he should, because hes a better player. gilmore is also young with big upside. sherman is not young, has no upside and while still very good, will start losing ability each year. It alsomakes no sense to have 3 tall cbs and no one to cover the antonio browns of the league.

I actually like sherman, on and off the field, unlike some here. But butler is a better player and is still ascending. would really suck imo if the pats cant keep him for at least this year. Of course, with or without him, theyre still the best team in the league. But with butler, pats have the best secondary in the nfl. Would be scary how good this team could be.

I love Malcolm Butler. His effort and character are exemplary. With Gilmore's performance last season there's an argument to be made overall Butler had a slightly better season. Gilmore, however, is taller, faster, more athletic, and at his best is better than Malcolm butler. Butler has good but not elite ball skills and athleticism, but not great.

Richard Sherman is better than either of them. Maybe he starts his decline as he hits 30, but as it stands right now there's no question he's still better than either Butler and Gilmore. With that said, I don't see what the Pats could give up that would make sense.

About this Seattle window closing, they will still be a big player on the NFC (their division returned to the state of being a joke) but I think they are done, and they are done because the league has figured out Russell Wilson who is a really good QB but is a king of broken plays. Kinda of a rich's man (much more rich) Tirod Taylor.

You keep him in the pocket and he is not a difference maker, he goes out of the pocket and he is getting banged up here and there.

Sherman is a smart guy and among other problems (salary cap) he's probably seeing they are not going to win another SB so he wants to join the dinasty, there is nothing wrong with that.

So did Carroll just get super effin' lucky in the draft his first few years? Because like the article said, since 2013, he has failed to pick up big name starters at all. Why is that?

Because he had a NCAA coaching gig before going to Seattle so he could scout first hand a lot of players that were not big names or in top 25 teams.

As USC's former head coach he had first hand knowledge of who was good in college. Now he isn't as good at drafting because all the players he scouted and tried to recruit are out of college.

And who ever that team is, will do so before the MB situation is sorted out.

Butler leaves after 2017 and you get a 3rd round comp for him. Or you franchise him and trade him to a team that would rather give up a pick than risk possibly losing out in a bidding war. They could always, at the end, drop the franchise tag and let him go for the 3rd round comp pick.

I love Sherman the player, but his mouth/attitude makes me nervous.
Really would like to have MB here long term. On the other hand I'm still waiting for Hannah to walk through the door.
