I'm so glad that Sean Payton finally became the first big name to stand up for Tom. On a related note, I'm even more glad because it was him because has always been my favorite coach outside BB. When the Saints have had even marginal talent on defense, they've been very good.

I was in New Orleans about six months ago. All these years later, there are still plenty of t-shirts that say F*** Goodell.

Sean Payton says his tweet means what you thought it meant

I feel like I start a good third of my posts with this disclaimer, but as an LA resident, I end up crossing paths with fans of almost every team at some point. Saints fans are among my favorite. I've met 4 or 5 of them in the last couple years. 1 was an ******* and I was happy to be done with our conversation. But the rest hate Goodell as much as I do, and believe that the Pats were framed for PR purposes/Goodell power grab just like they were.

Once you've watched your team be dragged through the mud and put on public trial with a combination of lies, misleading half-truths, and a complicit/hysterical sports media, you develop an intense skepticism of any attempts to do the same to anyone else. The NFL is playing a dangerous game; this whole thing works only because the league still has some credibility. But not much, and it's losing more every time it does this ****.

As I mentioned earlier, I was channel surfing this morning and noticed that Payton was scheduled to be on Mike and Mike I believe at 8:30. I watched the interview and the last item they asked him about was the Brady tweet. He couldn't have been more complimentary of the Patriots (their shared practices 4 times) and Brady. Talk about balls...I'll like him forever.

Will NEVER forget the Onside Kick to start the second half of Super Bowl XLIV!
Then they went on from there to defeat the Colts and the "Tom Brady of Football Commercials"!
Great coach with big balls!

It takes some guts to say what he said. League cannot fine or suspend him. He's already been through all that. Like he said he understands it because he's been through it. Way to go Payton.

I also liked BB's response to media when asked about Payton's support.

The Saints have now seemed to be a very strong connected ally. Much respect.

On another note, anyone know whatever happened to @pherein ? Haven't seen him post in quite a while unless I'm just missing it. Being a Saints fan, he was probably my favorite non Pats fan poster we've had on this forum.

What's up Pats fans! I always come by and check your board for any updates and info. True passion for your team. Us Saints fans appreciate the support from BB and the Pats community and we will always give it back. I feel our teams are one in the same so there is always that mutual respect. I have the utmost respect for your team, coach and fans. A lot of Saints fans pull hard for the Pats every week (I'm one of them). You're all welcome to come party in the Big Easy anytime! Hope to see you guys in the Super Bowl!

He was around during joint sessions

We like him too. I was very glad when he extended his contract. A lot of head coaches burn out when they hit the 10-year mark. Payton seems rejuvenated.
