It wasn't in his interest to stand up for Brady, but he did it anyway. That says a lot about his character. He deserves a lot of credit for that.

We like him too. I was very glad when he extended his contract. A lot of head coaches burn out when they hit the 10-year mark. Payton seems rejuvenated.

I know he was suspended for a year and that alone would likely cause him to empathize with/support Brady. He has a coaching history with BB and I'm sure that counts for something, too. But quite a few other guys have the same type of history, i.e. Coughlin, Schwartz, Fox and others, and I don't recall them coming out, so to speak. Dude's got stones and I appreciate his support and I'm guessing Brady, BB and the Pats do, also.

I've always liked the Saints. Brees is a big reason why. I also was a fan of Colston as well. I've felt that the Pats and Saints are similar. I hope you guys have a successful season. It seems like you have the pieces to have a good year. I'm especially curious about Michael Thomas.

Hey Joey007, Jackson, signbabybrady palm, chem, BradyFTW,PFVA, ica , LC and guys. Yeah my job with the Navy now gets busy, and the travel, but always Miss the Pats forum, you guys and the great fans of NE. Really one of the best forums and fans in the NFL. I do lurk
I kind of figured this was going to go viral when I saw it. Was like um oh Damn sean, and it was a long time coming. From Brees coming out to support Brady, the Saints team posting support on defendthewall, and Seans look everytime he was asked about it I firgured he was going to say something. I'm sure he just reached a breaking point with the NFL's BS about BB, Brady and your team. We know he has great respect for your team, and talked about how great the fans are in NE.
I didn't expect him to be this ballsy though lol. Way to go coach Payton Takes some guts to say it as it is and knowing RG will turn his eye south to NO again, Like The eye of Mordor. Payton was never the same after he was wrongfully suspended for a year. Its like he lost something and it hit him very hard personally I think.
This tweet is like the Payton of before, all balls and do anything to win. Think he worried about it, but hit enter and said F it BB's a friend.
As Ive said many times in 2009 you showed us class and friendship during and after the game. Acted like championship fans, even when it didn't go your way, you were so loved by the NO press and fans after the game. Dont think any other fans base root for NE more, if we are not in, then NO. Im happy for Payton that he got it off his chest finally. Think it kills some demons in his head to say FU GODell. Great day

I believe the Pats may be returning there next season and our group of 13 who were there last time have all indicated that they plan for an encore. Can't wait! However, I haven't yet mustered up the nerve to inform my liver...

Have kin in NOLA and over the years have spent quite a bit of time there, nothing but respect for the Saints and their fans, most respect the Patriots as well. They understand what we do and it is easy to understand what they are doing..

Was there right after they won the Superbowl in 2010 durng Mardi Gras.. it was quite "Belichickian" and "Bradyesque".. I was uptown near Tipitina's where the parades form, and Payton had to be shielded from the crowd.. Brees was Bacchus. The parade goers went wild.. over both of them and the rest of the team.

Really heartwarming to see the response of the fans.. after Katrina they really needed that.

My 10 year old nephew is a Pats fan and proudly wears his #87 Gronk Jersey, in his neighborhood..

We always thought they were friends. I know Brady called Brees a couple times before the Super Bowl to give advise, and Brees called him sometimes before the game. Very far apart but whenever together it seems they hang out alot and to really like eachother. At least this is what we see from the picts taken over the years. They seem really comfortable and joke alot.
