Mike Nolan's love affair with the "Big Nickel" formation, where a third safety is thrown into the mix. With this in mind, we'll take a look at another draft prospect who is on the Falcons visit list, Tavon Wilson.
Wilson spent four years at the University of Illinois, splitting his tenure between playing cornerback and safety. At 6'0", 205 lbs. he appears to have some decent power to him, something Nolan would be immediately drawn to.
He was known as a valuable leader for the Fighting Illini, and his college bio page says he was Illinois' honoree for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2010. These are two qualities we've come to expect out of prospects The Comrade brings in.
In 2011 Wilson was one of the better defenders on a defense that only allowed 19.6 points per game, ranking No. 15 in the nation.

I am starting to think BB jsut wants to screw with the "draftniks" and the trade chart jsut to do it
They went down 28 spots to #90 to pick up a fifth. Good night.
maybe they plan to trade out of that other pick
Good question but given what the trade of our latter pick netted, I'm inclined to think that no one was willing to offer good value in return for the Wilson pick whereby BB just selected the guy whom he had rated highest at DB. It's not like any other DB went after we selected Wilson and I think that also says something for the worth of the safeties and corners that are still on the board. This isn't a matter of if he works out or not. This is about WHY pick him at 48. Who were they competing against for him.
This makes no sense on value chart...gave up pick #62 ( 284 points) for pick #90 and #163 (140 and 26.2 points) WTF????we got a third and fifth.
The 49ers RB core is fun.
