Sherman and Thomas both have contracts that expire after the 2018 season, at which point both players will be at, or almost at age 30. So it really feels like they're moving everything into the middle of the pot for the next year or so.

For the Texans, great value, although part of me can't help but wonder if McNair was motivated to move one of his most vocal inmates. Rookie D'onte Foreman, who was also quite upset and didn't practice on Friday, played 1 snap on Sunday. It makes me wonder if McNair is trying to get rid of all the malcontents and send a message to the rest of the roster.

To be honest, this strikes me as a Belichickian move. Given the amount of former Patriots on the Texans staff, it's not particularly surprising.

Wouldn’t it be the coaches (correct) decision to bench a player who didn’t show up for practice on Friday?

Why would you need extra reasons to trade a guy who refuses to play for your team (Brown) ?
