To be fair to Brady on this one, the guy he went to, Cooks was open too, the reason why it wasn't completed was Brady thought Cooks was gonna sit and threw it to a spot but Cooks kept running and then tried to come back.

Is this true? Seems to me the ball should have come out earlier either way so that wasn't the source of the disconnect.

I like what I heard coming from Britt we had him at a reasonable contract.
Make no sense doing that.

What makes no sense is you continously bringing up Jordan Richards in a thread about a WR being replace by another WR. If MM is healthy (and it looks like he is) he will be an upgrade on Britt because he will actually know where to go.

In contrast to you I didn't like at all what I heard from Britt because he emphasized in some interviews that so far in his career he only had to study the playbook from the POV of position (X receiver) whereas here he had to know them all. If this was preseason and he had camp and an entire regular season ahead of him then this would be no issue. But what you would like to avoid heading into the playoffs is a wide receiver who is still catching up on everything.

I would be intrigued if we could get him back for camp next year and see what he can do with no imminent pressure to learn everything.

You are ass-uming a hypothetical, that the wrong route was run by Dorsett during the Brady-to-Cooks INT. Some of us, including the Patriots OC, believes that Brady made the wrong read.
Actually I’m talking about the route by Britt.
Of course I’m assuming that was the whole point. You can’t assume he ran the correct one either.

if Mitchell is activated it essentially makes Britt expendable. Dorsett is younger, has more time in the system. and they expended decent amount of capitol to get him in a backup QB in brisett so it makes sense they would keep him.

your playoff rotation would likely be :cooks/hogan/Mitchell/Amendola/Dorsett

My bad on the confusion.

Regarding the Brady-to-Britt INT, Britt definitely did not flatten his route, but I wonder if one of the reasons for not doing so is that he realized that he was not getting a first down unless he started heading more upfield and less toward the sideline.

I agree with that but am not sure that is a valid reason for him to drift up in the eyes of the coaching staff and Brady.

Not sure but my point was simply calling that a bad throw depends on the route.

My guess is that Britt May have run routes that way in Cleveland but we run them that way here so Brady expected him to be where the ball was thrown.

Good points.

In any case you want to have a receiver with double awareness - on what can go right and what can go wrong on the throw to put it in all simplicity. Once QB lets the ball go its all on the receiver to save his possible mistake or miscue..

Trust is notoriously big w Brady - to the point of frustration for his coaches as well - as Lombardi confirmed the other time. Not only the trust to be in the right place at the right time but also the trust that you will “secure“ the area of the throw as much as possible. He loves to go to Jules because he knows Jules is “territorial“ as hell - he'll make sure that if he can't get to the ball no one else will. And if he does he's gonna kill him if he can. I don't have the stats how many times the balls to JE11 were intercepted and what the percentage is compared to others . but when Tom goes to Jules (as much as it was annoying at times last yr w others being in better position) I never worry about the pick (the pick six vs Colts was at least partly on JE broken finger). When he goes to Cooks or most others I do. Interestingly . despite Danny being such clutch and Hogs on the money . the next WR I am most comfortable with getting the ball from Tom is Mitchell. Its just my feeling during the flow of the game, no rationale. And while Im not counting on it . I wouldn't be surprised if TB&MM click back immediately (and its not even about the playbook). That's why getting the sideline wizard back for the playoffs would be huge to me.

Britt (or Floyd) always had an outside chance to develop that “dual trust“ - and esp. playoff trust - with Tom coming so late in the season.

Andrews well worth of his (much disputed) extension . and then some ..

One could almost say BB knows his players pretty well..
Extended or increased incentives in 2017:

Gronk
Chung
Andrews
KVN
White
Edelman (well, he was pretty productive on the book market.. + I believe he'll return for a fantastic season)
+ Develin among re-signed

Any chance hogan plays in this game? I really would like to see him get some reps before the playoffs.

Another salary cap win..

At 3:45pm Saturday, still no official transaction confirming yesterday's tweeted rumor about Britt clearing out his locker.

15 more minutes for activation, right ?

patriots have until 4pm today to activate mitchell for tomorrow. so we will see pretty soon.

The Jets QB production over last 2 games (since McCown went to IR):
34 of 67, 48% comp%, 298 yards, 1 TD 3 Ints.

Rushing over these 2 games:
58 carries for 321 yards (Matt Forte was very very little of the running production).

Jets D over these last 2:
Sacks = 0
Passing(approx): 280 per games
Rushing(approx): 100 per game

Statistical suggestion as the major key to victory: Stop the run (JH's chance to shine?).

Reminder from week 7: Jets were an instant replay reversal from being only down 3 points with less than 10 minutes to go.

great reminder that this game can still serve as a perfect test for NE run D..
