But we could have drafted any other position than QB. Or in hindsight the right move is to trade the 2021 1st rounder away for a higher 2022 1st rounder (hopefully) plus 2nds/3rds. There isn't anyone in between Mac and Barmore that I want in that draft for that price.Look at Corky.
But they would have been crazy to pass up Mac. We'd go into the season at that point with Mitch Trubisky or someone like him. Also, in hindsight, the players in that 1st round that came after Mac were busts. We made the right choice, it just didn't work out. And that's the most common story for drafting 1st round QBs. The chances are it will happen again to us. It takes 3 1st round choices before you can land a good QB. Or in the Bills, Phins, case, 7 first rounds, and in the Jets case, infinity 1st rounders. But we could have drafted any other position than QB. You aren’t bill belechick but I now understand why you have the take you doThese are good points. I just don't think Bill is up to the job - the GM component - at this point in his career. I was a couple of years older than Bill when I retired - 74. I could have stayed as long as I wanted, but it was honorable and fulfilling work I wanted to do well, and I could sense I was beginning to cut a few corners, so I left. That's what old guys are suppoosed to do. My replacement, whom I had hired ten years before, is doing great. That's how it works.
Stockpiled a lot of talent? We haven’t had an all pro since Gilmore in 2019. Where is this stockpile of great talent? He rebuilt this team with no holdovers other than Andrews and we've stockpiled a lot of talent. We failed to draft the QB we needed, and the GM has failed at bringing in a top WR, but these are things that can happen at those 2 positions.
Dude…I miss him too…but…This is also assuming Mac isn’t at all responsible for some of those stats. Where Tom steps up into the pocket and delivers a laser, Mac “is pressured” and runs out of the pocket and then does something stupid like throw back across the numbers, multiple times.
And at least he’s an amazing punterwe now have an offense that almost 80% of the drives end in a punt. 80%!
Unless you’re talking about Bowles…Drew Brees, Alex Smith, Rich Gannon, Steve Young, Michael Vick, and Tom Brady.
The list you requested will be coming shortly.Stockpiled a lot of talent? We haven’t had an all pro since Gilmore in 2019. Where is this stockpile of great talent?
YES! We have bingo.
Better talent at QB.
No, you do not. I was at least as well respected in my little world as Bill has been in his. The difference is that I had the wisdom to quit while I still had and deserved the respect of everyone in my field, something Bill obviously lacks the self-awareness, honesty, and honorableness to do. Bill is certainly smart enough to see his failures. He simply lacks the courage and honesty to act on what he sees. In that respect, you are right: Bill and I have little in common. You aren’t bill belechick but I now understand why you have the take you do

No I am saying that against the Eagles, if Boutte brings that second foot down, the Pats would have been in first and goal at the eight with a chance to win the game. If JuJu doesn’t drop a ball against Miami, the Pats might have had a shot to win the game.
Right now the Pats don’t have great talent anywhere on offense, but there are plays in the Pats first two losses that could have changed the outcome of the game if the Pats had a better QB and other plays that could have changed the outcome of the game if the Pats had better receivers.
What if Cobb doesn’t slip on the wet grass and catches the tipped hail mary?
What if Rodgers doesn’t blow his achilles?
What if the Patriots don’t get a broken play TD to their TE3?
What if the Eagles and Dolphins didn’t go into a half assed zone mode?
What if Hurts ices the game and gets that first down?
That works. And we get Taylor Swift as a bonusYeah the 2 players being Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill.
Agree. Those who disagree should rewatch some 2019 Patriots and 2022 Tampa Bay games. Brady was very fortunate to beat Trace F-ing McSorley in overtime last year 19–16, with both Evans and Godwin in the lineup.Look, I don’t think Mac is HIM, but, I’m also not sure Brady himself in his prime could work with this O-line and a pressure rate north of 50%.
Now, a true dual threat QB maybe but…who?
I don’t see a meaningful trade being available at QB.
It’s not a talented football team and hasn’t been for a while.
Gotta find a way to beat the Saints or it’s gonna get ugly fast.
This is a bizarre post. We drafted a QB. He sucked. We need to draft another one.Whatever happened to “the Patriots will succeed with any decent QB because of their coaching, and if there’s any team you can trust with the most important position, it’s them, and you can be sure they have a plan.” That was every article and fan post in 2019/20.
Now it’s “dwaffffting a fwanchize QB is reawwwy haaaard.”
Yeah, no ****. Because there is no magic system and there is no QB whispering kit.
