DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION The Official NFL Draft Day 2 thread

You could make the same argument for every single NFL team. Which would mean 32 teams have no idea what they're doing on draft night.

No offense, Coach, but your post doesn't fit with either my post or Andy's. If you want to look at what we were talking about and get back to me, I'll be glad to respond to your follow up.

wow first a pothead now a rapist...... Thats crazy. jeff fisher does not give a sht about character concerns.......

Except that Johnson was not actually charges with rape. Jordan Johnson was and he pled down. Trumaine Johnson was charged with disorderly conduct

so a Punter goes in the 3rd round and the Bills TRADE UP! to pick a 7th round grade WR lets all stop whining and realise this draft class SUCKS!

Jags take a punter with a high Third.

This must be a very weak draft or he's a very, very good punter.

I'm becoming more comfortable with Wilson at #48.

Not even BB bats 1.000. Objectively, we as fans have every right to question the pick, regardless of the outcome of Wilson's career. Unless we hear of some rush on the guy, all indications are he could have went much lower. No draft expert here, just reading scouting reports and mock drafts. BB has missed on draft picks before...

Again, that isn't my point. I am not talking about whether the player will succeed or fail.
I am saying that the first 30-50 posts about a draft pick on the board often turn out to be a terrible analysis of the player. I'm sure it goes in the other direction too, I am simply pointing out the obvious examples.

(Please be quiet - edited) or talk draft.

Lets not forget, we wasted a 1st rounder on a special teamer in 2010, #17 last year on a guy who couldn't play as a rookie because he wasn't strong enough to play, used a 3rd last year on a guy who was only going to play on 3rd and 1, and wasted a 2nd in 2010 on a guy who couldn't play because he missed his Sr year with back surgery and a 4th on a TE who is too small and a pot head.

And thats just the last 2 years.
Do we really want to put any stock in the kneejerk reactions of posters on this board to draft choices?

Your comparisions are not quite the same
McCourtney was considered a 1st round talent by many
Solder was considered the 2nd best tackle by many
Ridley had very high upside (2nd round talent) who was knocked because he come out early
The TEs both were known talents with very high upsides
Wilson is graded a 5th rounder at best with no expectations of any upside from anyone (other than BB). My guess is he would have been available in the 7th, and if not, who cares. There are dozens of safeties who are his equivalent (basically anyone who has ever played safety at some point in his life). If(and it's a big if) he makes the team, the safety play will not necessarily be better than last year.

The first 30-50 posts were, who the **** is this guy? How is that a bad analysis? Seriously, it's a reach pick for BB. It's on him to prove everyone wrong. I hope he's right, and it's not often he isn't...

I just stopped ignoring Andy, so I'm not going to get into it with him. I just hate that stupid freaking argument that he was trying to make. It's moronic.

You don't even understand the argument I am trying to make.
Or do you dispute that knee jerk opinion and evaluation posted during the draft on this board of the players drafted has often been way off.

I said nothing about that meaning the pick is better or woirse than it is.
You have a bad habit of reading things into a post to make it mean what you want it to when it doesn't.

Over to you Deus..

Jammel Fleming, Brandon Boykin, Marvin Jones, all 3 Arkansas receivers all still on the board. This draft class is wacky.

You should reread the posts.

In any event my point was that the initial posts on players drafted are often wrong, and I gave the 4 most obvious recent examples.
If you want to argue that there is something in my post that just isnt there, thats on you.

I'll say it again, as of the 48'th other then Jenkins not one secondary player (CB, S,SS,DB) was drafted short of Wilson, and as of pick 70 only 2 others where, Johnson at 65 and Robenson at 66. Apparently this was a weak secondary class for EVERYONE and Bele knew it. He probably took Wilson because it was an area of need to such an extent that BPA was a trade off.

I understand your argument quite well. That's the problem. it's a stupid, stupid argument. Here, let me sum it up for you:

Take "Nobody's perfect and nobody gets it all right." Apply it to the board right after an emotional reaction. Pretend you've said something meaningful.

Guess what? As I said, that's a given. It's a non-starter.

I think some of you clowns like B1tching to each other more than football itself. SHUT UP!

Why do you continue to go down this alley? You look ridiculous for doing it. For every player you name, people can name multiple players who didn't pan out.

You argue a losing hand.

Wouldnt the sheer fact that his possition could be argued with the examples he gave mean we should give the kid at least this season to prove the coaches right before writing him off on draft day?

Reportedly, Wilson moved up due to workouts private and his Pro Day (sub 4.5). At least that's what I heard on WEEI. The analysts never updated. Couple that with an obviously weak draft, it's apparent that Wilson is something of a prospect and he may make Slater expendable. It seems weak to me but this is too high a pick for BB to simply blow. He must have something.
