As of right now, Bedard still has Berrios making the 53. I think Bedard's out of his mind with that.

My thoughts on this game.

WR - Meyers has officially unlocked himself. I still don't think he's cut but he isn't the roster lock he looked like 2 weeks ago. Gunner offers STs. If they don't believe Meyers can have a real future as a #3 or better they might want to save that spot. I can't wait to see Gordon, DT and Harry on the field at the same time. Big and skilled.

RB - Not much to say here. I'm surprised they didn't give Burkhead a final look. I don't think he deserves that treatment after such a bad preseason. Maybe a trade coming though?

TE - There was not much here I liked. The blocking was okay but not great.

QB - Stidham playing the entire game is fairly eye opening. That indicates they are really looking to move on from Hoyer. As for Stidham's play there was good and bad. Overall not any worse than Hoyer. He messes up more than Hoyer would but makes plays Hoyer can't. I call it a wash.

OL - I don't think our 2 new OL guys we got from trades played. At least in the first half. I wonder what it means. Still lacking clarity at this spot. Also waiting on news from Froholdt.

DL - Wise had a sack but didn't impress me. Still a trade/cut candidate. Cowart with a quiet day. I wonder how many snaps he played. Tonight Parry out played him it looks like. Parry is turning into a hard cut.

LB - Munson keeps showing me good things. I wonder how much he can help in STs as he will probably have to pitch in there to make it. Roberts not being played at all surprised me a bit. I don't remember him making any meaningful plays in any of these games. I think he could be a trade candidate.

DB - Crossen did fine IMO. He got smoked a little 1 on 1. He isn't a man CB and clearly not a match for Tate. So what? I find the lack of play time for Obi interesting. Williams looked good again. He has really improved throughout the preseason. I wonder how much we will see him in actual games

Obi makes the roster.

many rosters have all but Olszewski

What a strange ride the WR position has been on over the course of this camp. Right now there's a clear big four of Edelman, Gordon, Harry and Thomas--wow. But I dare you to call anybody else a lock.

The other huge question to me is, of all things, exactly which special teams positions all of the ST standouts play. We can't carry all of these guys:

Bolden
Brooks
Calhoun
Crossen
Ebner
Munson
Olszewski
Slater

Interesting note regarding the team's week 2 opponent:

Fitzpatrick has been named the Dolphins starter for week one.

Just a few thoughts

1. I would be happy if I had 53 Gunner Olsheski's on my team. BUT... there is no room at the table for him right now, and after tonight I'm damned worried that he's not going to make it to the PS. I was actually happy to see him fair catch most of his PR's and NOT return any of his KO's It will be too bad to see him on another team. Given a year on the PS, he'd be a lock to make the 2020 team and be an asset. Now we can just wait and hope

2. I thought PUPing DThomas was about the easiest decision of the preseason. Clearly I was wrong. The thing is I never bought into the whole DT was a declining player who THEN had an Achilles tear at 31. He managed to make 23 catches in 7 games AFTER he was traded to a new team and had to learn a new offense on the fly.

But still, you had to be shocked to see his stat line after about 3 practices with his new team and working with a new QB. I guess now we know WHY Tom Brady always seemed so happy to be around him.

3. If Edelman was seriously hurt he wouldn't have been on the sideline yelling at officials (and justifiably so)

4. The back up OL was pretty weak. They pass defended pretty well when the Giants were rushing just 4, but when the blitzed it looked ugly. Hard to pinpoint who to blame, but they never figured out how to make the Giants pay.....and that could have been on purpose.

5. We better hope the starters don't have any hiccups this season, or a team strength could become a weakness very quickly

6. You didn't hear his name mentioned much but JWilliams is going to be a hell of a player for us THIS year and down the road. The Giants refused to target him for a long time and when they did, he ate them up. With the exception of a dropped pick after he was in perfect position, he pretty much threw a shut out. IMHO he was a man among boys and I'm glad we have him.

7. Munson is the Gunner of the LB group. Non-stop motor and usually in the right place. I think he'll make this team.

8. Cowart continues to impress in the middle. He moves the LOS and that's hard to do.

9. Mayo didn't show much of what we've seen the first 3 practice games, and that makes sense given we will see these guys again in week 6.

10. You could see the difference in the cultures of the two teams. The Pats were all dressed and in full pads and seemed to be VERY involved with the game and their teammates, most of whom will be gone by Saturday. Very cool. On the other side, the Giant's starters were not in pads and seemed disengaged with what was going on.

11. REAL happy that the Giants came back and won the game. I would have HATED being undefeated in preseason games. A 4-0 preseason seems so Jet-like. I think the Ravens have won something like 16 preseason games in a row. NOT my ideal of a role model.

12 Obi didn't play at all. Hard to justify a spot on the roster even though he's a binky.

13. Can't wait for the next two days to come and go so I won't have to hear about carrying just 2 QB's. We know the arguments

14. Scooby do came in early this week and wound up with 2 sacks, even though he looks like a small LB from a D-2 school. Glad he got some good tape in his time with the Pats.

15. Funny to see two 47's on the defense when Jacob Johnson at LB and Ken Webster were on the same side

16. I thought Kyle Lauletta did a nice job in his stint. He's a guy I wanted the Pats to draft last season as a sleeper. Not to date myself, but Kyle's grandfather, Joe, was one of my football coaches in college as well as my Lacrosse coach. I think I just dated myself.

17. Daniel Jones in a very short stint looked like the guy that has been the toast of the preseason. After a 4-4 night, his completion percentage has to be over 90%. If the Giants don't get off to a fast start, the Pats might be facing a new QB in weak 6.

18. I have to say it. The Giants were jerks trying to keep this game going into Red Sox/Yankees territory instead of just running out the clock in the 4th like the Pats were doing and get people off the field healthy. Instead they squeezed every last second out of the clock to no great purpose.

BRB, deleting some old comments so I can come post here about how I knew DT would make it here all along.

Sloppy start for Crossen but after that he was getting better with every play. Two biggest questions for me is Crossen and Olszewski. Will they survive the cuts? I hope they will.

I love me some Tom but Skip is getting ridiculous

At this point I wouldn’t put it past him to say NFL changed helmets for all just to stop Brady

I think that the only saving grace for Dawson, if he were to somehow make this roster, would be that was a 2nd round pick last year.

Yeah, I assume he's going to make it purely because Jordan Richards got 3 years. Whatever Belichick saw in him that made him worth drafting in the second round, I believe that'll buy him at least another year on the roster.

To each their own, but I don't look at it is a wash. Stidham's number of mistakes should decrease as he gets more time with the "A" unit and general familiarity with the offense. I also think rookies feel the need to "dazzle" the coaches when, in reality, Belichick et. al are looking for him just to throw the ball away when under significant pressure.

With Hoyer, he makes a fair number of poor plays each game despite being a veteran. Hoyer also offers little upside as he is average at best despite being well-versed in the offense. At the most, Hoyer makes this roster for his final year here.

Many are calling for three quarterbacks on the final roster. I love if they just kept Brady and Stidham. If the rookie can learn quickly from his mistakes, he is the type of quarterback who could have this team win games. Best case scenario with Hoyer: we get bounced from the playoffs like the Houston Texans. And we don't have a J.J. Watt to buoy the poor offensive play.

May be wrong but I’m getting the vibe that Hoyer is done. BB keeps the two QB rule going. For all of those concerned that Tom’s backup is a rookie, it happened in 2014 and we didn’t have a problem. I wonder if you could get a 6th or 7th for him.

I think Hoyer is going to be cut.

2 QBs
7 WRs (counting Slater)
1 TE (!)
8 OLs

We don’t need Hoyer. Here come the disagreements in 3....2....1....

I think the exact opposite is true. If BB was thinking of cutting Hoyer loose, don't you think he would have showcased him last night for trade bait? The fact that Hoyer didn't see the field last night is proof that he is not going anywhere.

Keeping Richards 3 years was a mistake. Why repeat it?

Dawson is the 6th CB/DB and has very little value on STs.

Seems like they should trade him and get something

Some pretty good players are going to not make the Pats' 53 or PS. That's just how it is when you have this much quality on your 90 man roster. We will see some ex-Pats perform pretty nicely for other teams this season, I'm afraid.
