Tavai: “Booing fans should know their place”

Also, "not built in a day"? What does he know about it? Detroit got good after they dumped his arse.

Those are the instincts that produce a 3-13 record. Silence from The Scatback and The Nebbish. Unfortunately exactly as expected. Their first instinct is to blow this off because it’s the attitude they have. They will only address it better after seeing how much blowback they get and not because it’s the right thing to do for your customers.

Man, the early 90's era wasn't fun was it? Feels like us too young to remember are getting firsthand experience on what it was like now.
Not in the least. Ownership was an embarrassment. The front office was clueless. Coaching was awful. Talent level was brutal. Sexual harassment charges. ****ty stadium. Games blacked out. I really don't think it can get worse than that.

Good thing I was in college at the time and didn't have the knowledge and understanding of the NFL and the inner-workings of the team and the politics as I do now. Ignorance was bliss. Just watched the games and got stoned...lol.

That's what's funny. He (Tavai) references the Lions and Dan Campbell as their goal, but he was ON THAT TEAM and one of the first things Dan Campbell did was CUT HIM...

This falls into the Assante Samuel category for me. If he had caught the interception to seal the perfect season I'd be fine with any of his complaints about the franchise or Bill. But he didn't so kindly STFU because HOFers don't drop the most important interception of their career.

Similarly if somebody like Wise, Andrews, Jonathon Jones.....aka somebody with a ring wants to say WTF after all we've given you, then I'm ok with that. Some of the Patriots who have spoken out who probably don't have 10 career wins to their credit can kindly STFU. You haven't done anything to justify being able to call the fans out.

Is this the type of “team culture” we want to keep?

The relevant quote: "There's a reason they're fans. Everybody can say what they think we should be doing. They're not qualified to be doing what Mayo is doing or the Krafts are doing or whatever. They're fans. I appreciate them at times, but sometimes they just gotta know their place..."

I well remember those days. And sadly, it can not only get that bad, but it can get worse (the team could eventually get sold and a new owner could move it out of New England).

What an ironic twist that would be. The guy who rests his rep on being the one who saved the team from moving out becomes the one who causes the team to be moved.
