Agree 100%. People say Philly deserves an Eagles win but they don't. Eagles fans are a bunch of degenerate low lifes.
Most overrated fanbase in the league. Extremely parochial, know nothing outside of the Eagles. Like to pretend that they're cold, hardened cynics, but actually the most gullible, "maybe-next-year/TRUST THE PROCESS" fans on the planet.
They, more than any other fanbase, abuse the pronoun "WE" when referring to local teams. They, more than any other fanbase, have "that guy" who applies the logic of his high school team to the Eagles' problems and thinks its a sound solution--I remember when someone insisted to me that McNabb should be a running back, not a QB. This was in 2003, during the underrated stretch of Reid/McNabb teams that the entire city denigrated and took for granted. Booing McNabb at draft day (BECAUSE THEY WANTED RICKY WILLIAMS!!) was a disgrace. Ultimately, the Philly fan is under the delusion that the team works for HIM, as if it is the burden of all local sports franchises to exorcise the failures of him and his wretched city. I don't even think Cleveland has that kind of persecution complex--or at least, in the case of Cleveland, it's kind of understandable.
The Philly fan likes to act indignant when sane people accuses him of being barbaric--but deep down he loves it--they love it, and they wish it were more true than it really is. The real truth is that Philly is just a sad, depressed town desperate to relive the Eagles' glory years--except there were none. Nostalgia with no destination: Philadelphia.
Sorry. Sports talk here had me fuming needed to vent.
